      Hi,

Are all MPM math teachers trained in MPM way? When i first approached MPM it was a much muture lady communicating with me + doing the 1st trial. After i confirmed to join the class, 1st lesson is by a young lady looks like either Uni or poly student. Anyone got such experience? I feel she does not explain much except tell student this number is here and this number is there and so it will ...... (the answer). She teach pretty fast and gives answer most the time.

      Which centre?

my son completed 1/2 of each book ( total 2 bks) in 1 hr, Is this reasonable?

Which books are your son doing now?

My son takes about 1 hr too...he's at book 29 and 30.

For both books total 19 pages he completed in 1 hr time.

Yes i know is not about speed but i rather have my boy complete all pages of 2 books in mpm classroom rather then bring it home to do. My son simply wouldn't sit still at home and he cannot concentrate if at home. I must have cane standby..........

Am not sure about what book - its SG075 & SG076. He did not start from 1st book. He's K2 now.[/quote]
        How's your child coping?

I am trying to find out feedback from those whose kids are alread w/ Bangkit branch. I visited the ctre weeks ago and was rather impressed w/ their workbooks, need lots of thinking skills. They hv tools to aid etc.

I asked on the Jelic program too & i think it’s a gd stimulation programme.

However I think it all boils down to whether ur child can or cannot.

I asked the facilitator, has she ever encountered a kid who is really not smart and still not learn anything eventually? She told me - is highly impossible.

I actually feel it’s like $ wasted if u pay for 2hrs end up your child can finish in 1hr & you are called to fetch him/ her back. On the other hand I was explained - if you child is taking less time to finish the books, then it also means he/ she understands the logic behind, and can use shorter time to complete wats expected.

For a start, perhaps if 2hrs, then gradually is 1.5 or 1hr etc… So if tats the case, you should feel happy, cos your child will not take donkey hrs to complete his/ her test in future.

I am thinking of signing up, but just need more testimonials frm Bangkit branch.

If only any mummies here can help, that would be so helpful.

I got the brochure from the ctr bcos I couldn’t find anything frm the web. Bt I can’t load it here as an attachment to share.

My son is in K1 and was told by Tampines CPF branch to sign him up for Jelic and move to MPM when in K2. My son joined in Mar’13 and loves the class so I’m ok with it. Just spoke to the teacher in charge and apparently its better to build a strong foundation with Jelic before moving to MPM.

As Jelic and MPM is more on maths concepts and logic. Do I still need to send him to Abacus class? I’ve read the forum on Abacus training but still worried that my son might be confused when enter P1 with abacus. Any thoughts?

Abascus kids are usually perform better than those never attend, they can count faster in basic calculations. However, they lose out in model drawing and other heuristic questions. With positive attitude towards learning, these kids will pick up the technique along the way and will excel in math. Once reach P4 onwards, good to further maths skill in exploring maths Olympiads, etc. Can use math for DSA in sec sch.
