      Hi,

Are all MPM math teachers trained in MPM way? When i first approached MPM it was a much muture lady communicating with me + doing the 1st trial. After i confirmed to join the class, 1st lesson is by a young lady looks like either Uni or poly student. Anyone got such experience? I feel she does not explain much except tell student this number is here and this number is there and so it will … (the answer). She teach pretty fast and gives answer most the time.

I guess it's to protect the content of the materials bah.

You should have the materials with you for 2 wks. The first wk is when your child brings it home to complete the bk. The teachers will return the bks when they completed marking and you will bring it back to them during the next lesson.

As for the timing of the class, it depends. If the child is able to complete the work quickly, he can leave earlier. If he cannot finish then will leave later. No child was asked to leave before they complete the work at centre that my dd1 attends
        Thanks,

my son completed 1/2 of each book ( total 2 bks) in 1 hr, Is this reasonable?

            :?
So far we only get to keep the books for 1 week.
DS will bring the 2 books back, work on them, and hand them in
at the beginning of the next class....and that's it! We don't see
them coming back to us again. That's why I made sure I looked
through DS' work before the books are given back to the centre.

Perhaps each centre has different practice?
My DS is in the Bishan branch.

Which books are your son doing now?

My son takes about 1 hr too...he's at book 29 and 30.

The trs will give us the marked bks so that we know what are the correct answers and if dd1 made any mistakes.

Is anyone’s child studying at MPM woodlands civic center branch? We had the worst experience there. Management has already changed 3 times and not coordinated at all. Teachers didn’t teach properly and my child became so confused. Just pulled out mine and placed into another center. Much better now. I just wanted to know if anyone had similar experiences or maybe just our case was mismanaged.

                    Hi Soursop,

My dd is in MPM woodlands civic centre too. She has been there for 3 months and frankly speaking, I still do not know who her trainer is. Everytime I sent her there, there will always be different trainer taking her. Am so fed up of it. I have been thinking of transferring her out. My dd was also confused with her maths and I wonder whether is it the trainer didn’t teach properly or simply just provide her the answer. Previously, she is still ok with her maths.

Currently, which branch is your child in? If transfer out, do we need to pay registration fee again?

wah, your child finish on 1 hr for 2 materials, very very clever. If based on this type of child who is serious, fully concentrated and independent. MPM materials can be easily tackle with 45-90mins for 2 materials.

It is unhealthy practise to stay in the MPM classroom for more than 2 hrs. Examination time how? Paper cannot finish on time, that’s it. How can MPM in that centre practise not according to real life situation?

I don’t mind if my child can’t complete on time.
And I will scold my child instead for not concentrating in the class.

I saw some kids stay for 2-3 hrs just to complete the 2 materials (18 pages). Something is wrong right? That is a good practise for the kids to take own sweet time to complete.

I noticed on the front page of DS’ work books that there are spaces to record the start and end time.

So perhaps the original intention was to record the time taken to track a child’s progress by their speed and accuracy (like Kumon does)?
