SMO Junior

Your child is in the Top 10, is it?
Agree .. RI must have realised the impact of NUS High's NMOS at P5, where the maths geeks have first exposure to a major Maths competition, and are bought-in long before the SMOPS and RI World Maths at P6. Now RI has RMSO at P5 too! Would HCI do the catching up by introducing another Maths competition at P5? And then NUSH counters with one at P4 ...verykiasu2010:
NUS High dominates the SMO Junior top 10
and RI dominates the SMO senior top 10
why the switch around ?
math geeks all gone to NUSH and hence RI's talent dried up ?
3 of this year's Singapore IMO's particpants came from NUSH, 2 from RI, 1 from ACSI. In years to come, I think even more will come from NUSH (just look at the SMO Junior top 10 this year! I am quite sure NUSH is Junior Team first).
How come you have this list? -

HCI started the Bilingual talent hunt at P5 last year

NUSH has attracted a lot of pupils who are strong in Maths and Science in recent years. probably due to its modular system and direct admission to NUS. Heard students there have very very low drop-out rate and no need to take 'O' level other than MT. Their sport CCA are mostly for recreational and less stressful.Zann:
Wow! It looks like most winners come from NUSH, RI and then HCI.

I think one of the reason is that in recent years more top students are now more willing to go to NUSH after the school established themselves in competitions and gained recognition with top overseas universities. There is now less uncertainty on the acceptance of the NUSH diploma.Zann:

When the seniors entered the school, they were taking the path less traveled. While many liked the modular system and no \"A\" level, there was no track record from a relatively new school. Nobody graduated from NUSH yet at that time. Then the first batch graduated one and a half years ago and showed that they could enter top universities other than NUS. -

Agree with you top Maths & Science students are now more willing to go to NUS High. However I believe RI will continue to reign the Math & Science scene as many top students are likely to choose RI over NUS High, given that RI is much more established with a history of 187 years, whereas NUS High is still in its infancy with only 6 years of history. Of course, I must say that being a very young school, NUS High's recent achievements in Maths & Science are nothing short of spectacular!I think one of the reason is that in recent years more top students are now more willing to go to NUSH after the school established themselves in competitions and gained recognition with top overseas universities. Looking at the results of SMO, there is a close fight between RI and NUS High because each has top talents in the different cohorts. -
