SMO Junior

MdmKS:
And many of them have their mother stay at home to teach them also. What about you Fairy?
Today, I am still struggling whether to work or not to work after so many years... :faint:
I am a FTWM on a break! I work long hours. That's all I can share. -

My son said RI is second leh. Did he hear wrongly? :? The individual results/ranking is out. Am surprised the GOLD awardees started at such low marks! Actually way below a 50% pass mark. Should have let him try... He ask me if he should sign up for the competition then and I said 'no point' since he has no trainng. Some of his classmates also participated in the competition supposedly without any MO training.
For SMO(Junior), the top is NUSH, 2nd is HCI and 3rd is RI. (inside info

I am sure NUSH is 1st and HCI is 2nd, and have assumed that RI is 3rd. It is possible that RI gets 2nd too. Is RI's total for top 3 scorers (count round 1 only) 54? If it is, then RI is 2nd too. Yeah, cut-off for Gold is only 12 (last year's cut-off was 23)! And to get into 2nd round, one just need to score >= 8/35!! This year's SMO Junior is much, much harder than all the previous years. Does your son know how many marks the top scorer in RI got for round 1+2 in SMO(J)? -

They only count round 1 score for ranking of schools? What about round 2 score? -
kiasiparent:
For Team awards, only Round 1 scores (max: 35 marks) are counted. Schools are ranked based on the top 3 Round 1 scores in each school. For Individual awards, both Round 1 & 2 scores (max: 85 marks) are counted. I think NUSH may top the Individual award too (not sure though, as I do not know the marks for top SMO(J) scorer in RI and in Indonesia).mjl:

Wow! 12 for Gold? 8 for 2nd round? it is crazy, can imagine how difficult it is. I will get the solution book on 4th Sept 2009 and go through all questions with my daughter, she will attend SMO Junior in 2010. -

He mentioned the teacher flashed the results to them in class. I don't think he'll remember since he did not participate.
Anyway, is it true that if this year's paper is difficult, next year's will be easier? -

No problem for SMO Junior level, as for Senior or Open level, no guarantee, need to pick up Math books and review some topics.wmd:
