their embassy can advise but most likely won't enforce

The young, rich and powerful in China have lost their conscience, integrity and human values. They buy their way out of trouble. These people are causing problems back home.
If they think they can do the same in other countries, they should be served severe punishment. Don't behave like spoilt brats in host country, turn around and claim people are jealous of them. For goodness sake, nobody is jealous of them...instead we are disgusted. Btw, I am not anti foreigners.

can anyone just \"suka suka\" demand for compensation and expect the authorities to just act based on netizens' demand for compensation?

believe there is no issue with the need to compensate - if the liability has been established - but it has to be done through legal channel and due process. singapore is a rule based and law abiding country

if any authority can just act based on netizens' demand, what makes singapore different from other mafia countries ?

hate to say this - but - who knows - Ma Chi may not be at fault ? it could be the Ferrari that has malfunctioned and the driver could not control it - just like the famous Lexus crash in US - lost speed control -- that caused Toyota to recall millions of vehicles worldwide in recent years ?

without establishing the truth, it is dangerous to start demanding ...... even though prima facie the Ferrari crashed into the taxi .......

just like a plane crash - not every time is a malfunction or a pilot suicide .... until the truth is established ....
        :goodpost:

Without pre-judging, I think the overwhelming likelihood is that this Ferrari chap is culpable. Even so, due process must be followed. Is there outrage against this fellow's actions and subsequent insensitivity of his relatives? Of course! But how does that suddenly translate in seizing assets and expelling the family??

I mean, c'mon, we are not the wild wild west with vigilantes roaming the countryside.

Its seems like every single thread turns into g'ment or foreigner bashing eventually.....even in a benign forum like KSP.

I decided not to post anything on this thread due to the very negative tone but for the above, I must say :goodpost:

At the speed the Ferrari was going, on the impact I really don't think airbag would have saved the taxi driver. Nonetheless I agree taxis should be installed in all taxis... Though there have been instances where airbags coz suffocation when the victims passed out on it or victims sustained bruises (& sometimes broken noses) to their faces due to the pressure from deployment of airbag.

Nobody said he is definitely not at fault. We are saying we do not dispense jungle justice. Due process must be followed, if we lose sight of that we are finished as a society.

We are Singaporeans, we do not allow the execrable actions of a spoilt PRC brat tear at how we conduct ourselves, which is at the core of what other people find good and strong about our country and people.
