If you are residing in West Coast area, you are unlikely to be within 1km of NH and going for 2B this year cos NH was changed from Bukit Timah to West Coast GRC in May 2011. You need at least 1 year of service and will not expect NH to be drawn into West Coast thus will not volunteer in West Coast GRC in 2010.

Most of the people living in the newer West Coast Condos -- particularly Botannia, Infiniti, Carabelle and Monterey Park -- are not SC...they are PR at best. I live in Monterey Park and my daughter is one of the few SC there. Most of Monterey Park is not within 1 km...just outside. As for The Parc Condominium and Hundred Trees (still under construction), those will be within 1 km but again, there is a heavy expat/non-SC presence.

I am staying in Botannia and there are quite a lot of expat, all nationality.
The Parc is out of 1km, I know of 6sc PV residing in one of these condos.

If the Parc is out of 1 km, then any PV there would get lower priority. As for the 6 SC PV you mentioned, as long as they are within 1 km, they will have just as good a chance as any other SC PV within 1 km. For Nan Hua, I would expect it to continue to be stiff competition for admission for years to come, other schools in Clementi/West Coast should not have any issues at all for 2B.

Their parents may be PRs but if the child is a SC then they will still have the SC benefits regardless of parents nationality.

[/quote]True...I am PR but my daughter is SC. We have Japanese, Russian, Brazilian, mainland Chinese, and various European ethnicities at Monterey Park alone. Out of 280 units, I know of only 2 or 3 actual SC which are of primary 1 age and at least 1 other PR of the same age. A lot of people send their kids to international schools -- Japanese kindergarten/secondary school, United World College, etc. Not too much competition for local primary 1 places. In Clementi area, most of that will be from the surrounding HDBs and from alumni. To my knowledge, even non-SC with parents or elder siblings who were alumni get the privilege of placement in earlier phases. I think it will be a few years before this issue resolves.

I think they may have misclassified the distance category. Before, there are 2 applicants under the 1-2km category but it has been since been changed to 1.

There are 4 blocks out of 7 blocks in The Parc which is within 1km of NHPS.
