i agree w fuchsia.. my son is enrolled in N1 PM class at CH Mountbatten and he was with J&G before this.

i find that he is starting to be more vocal.. which is the reason why i sent him to J&G and CH..

From J&G days, he wasnt afraid of strangers as a baby or toddler and warms up to them after awhile. so when he went to CH, he was surprisingly the only kid who din cry..
and from age 2 onwards, he would converse with our friends etc and now at 2.5 yrs, he would just \"chat\" strangers up in the lift/bus/mrt/over the counter etc.. although it's simple sentences like \"hello uncle/auntie\" etc or \"where r u going?\", i think it's a good start..

        :xedfingers: keeping my fingers crossed

Hi fuchsia, thanks for your reply!

My son has been offered a place for N1 in east coast, so I would like to find out
            - do the children get to go to the beach and play?
            - is the food generally ok, in particular for fussy eaters?
            - is the school effective in minimizing HFMD? Do the kids fall sick easily?
            - how do you find the mandarin teachers? Are the teachers generally helpful in toilet training?
            - any negative experiences?

            Appreciate your feedback, thanks again!

Hi there, can only answer all questions except question 1 as my kid is at TC.
                - the kids are exposed to both local and western foods; and the teachers would encourage the kids to try as mine is a fussy eater.
                - the school emails update on hfmd case(s) when a case is reported. The school puts in the measures such as cleaning and airing the school after each session. Whether the kids fall sick easily, please understand that all kids do get sick more often than if they were not in school and that they enter school at a younger age. Most parents, me inclusive, do not send the kids to school if we see that they are down with a runny nose unless sinusitis.
                - quality of Chinese is similar to that of jg. Most kids are toilet trained.
                - no so far.

                Hope this helps.

Don't be confused. Just relax and ask yourself the reason for registering in these three schools. Is it for your kid to learn through play? Is it for your kid to be educated in a christian environment? Have observed that kids from two of these schools turn out to be more confident and outspoken but having said that, I have to say that the parents generally put in quite a bit of effort.

So please do not be overly concerned with ch having more Malay and Indian teachers but be more concerned if the school has a high teacher turnover. Do speak to the these teachers and you will notice the quality of these teachers as compared to fts excluding Chinese teachers.

Hi YellowBelt, Thanks for your reply! Actually, what I am concern with is the turnover rate and the quality of the teachers. I have no chance to speak to their teachers. Well, do you have any idea about this?

I am not a christian but when I put my daughter in SJCK's waiting list is because I heard from many many people they are good and she has to go N2 next year and I was afraid Pat's will not have vacancy even though I know she is Ex-Pat's Student and will have a higher chance. During this period I sent my daughter to JG EduDrama and realized the teachers are quite good and confident. So I started to consider Chiltern. I do not want my daughter to be spoon fed. BUT, when I spoke to a teacher, she told me if I do so, my daughter will not be able to catch up in Primary School =(

Yes, the children do get to go to the beach and play.
My children were toilet trained by the teachers at CH. 😄

What are Chiltern’s House hours like? What time do kids reach school, and what time does actual teaching start and end? Does anyone bring their kids to school on Sat?
