All About SAP Schools

Actually i only meant that my older 2 did not take HCL from p5 onwards. In SAP school, surely need to take HCL from p1. Never heard of any option before. Even the non-Chinese take HCL. Some of them do extremely well too, even though their parents don't know chinese. And they end up continuing to take HCL in p5/p6 and hv good psle scores. Amazing. Put us Chinese to shame. ;(
Hhmm, i am concerned that those \"drop-out\" from HCL will be 2nd class citizen. I called Poi Ching before to check whether HCL is compulsory from P1. The person answered in very incredulous tone \"Must take HCL, if not , no point coming to Poi Ching'phankao:
Why can't a child survive?
I have 2 elder children in 2 different SAP schools who did not take HCL. No problem there. My daughter just finished her O-level CL. She's still not taking HCL. Ds1 is taking HCL now in sec 1. Not his favourite subject though. He's still weak in it. -

Thanks Phankao, for enlightening me. It's time for me dig a hole and hide now.[/quote]My chinese v bad. But that was one reason i put my kids to SAP schools, hoping that the language environment would not at least make them *hate* chinese like how it is in more english-based schools. Like how I (& all my friends) hated chiense when we were in school.

My kids all do better in chinese than me, but can't say they love the language though. -
Hi Phankao,
How do you help the kids with their homework / home practice? I guess it’s inevitable to hire a CL tuition teacher… -
sook:
They have a tutor. So far, not throughout primary school. Dd only had tutor for the 6 mths before her O-level chinese, and CL tuition from p4-p6. Ds1 had CL tuition from p1-p6 tho. He has CL tuition now in sec 1 and taking HCL(not his choice - compulsory).Hi Phankao,

Ds2 doesn't want tuition and he's the only one continuing to take HCL in p5. -

I guess, it's the same with other subjects pa. At least i can teach them other subjects (if my short fuse permit).
