All About Getting Priority Registration
-
Would parents be convinced that all schools are equally good if GRL really choose only non-popular schools for their kids? So what if the school is popular or not, does it mean the school is good and bad?
Are we really sheep that we will follow whatever is the trend or school of thought?
In selecting a primary school don’t parents look at the school and own child and decide if it’s a match? -

Regarding clan, churches - these are the fundamental building blocks of the school itself. They are the ROOTS for the school. We cannot abolish them.
Agree. Some of these govt-aided mission schools (eg. Methodist schools) do not accept money from the Singapore Pools - so a lot of funds/donations come from Methodist churches, fund-raising and Alumni. -
GRLs role is for those who are having Passion to serve the community.

why moe is giving instruction to specific GRL that every school is a good school? How about pv that non- related to the school as well? How about those alumni that is non active but takes advantage of the system? We are discussing on how to make the policy effective so that those clan/pv/GRL/alumni that has done so much should be given the priority.

We are discussing how to make the policy more effective. Some of us think that publishing the no. of clan/church, GRL, and PV applications under phase 2B for each school improves the system.
Me? I think that knocking GRLs out of phase 2B improves the integrity of the system. :siam:
As for PVs, personally I feel there is no difference between contributing time by \"volunteering\" and contributing money by \"donating\" to get priority. No reason why one is allowed and the other is not.
As for clans/churches. It's the prerogative of the clan/church what criteria they want to use because, well... it's their school, right?
Ok. Not totally. But that's why we still have phase 2C too. -
If discussing abt effectiveness of policy why bring up that GRL to help MOE spread the msg that all schools are good by registering in schools that are not as popular?

Mod's Note
Please be reminded that all discussions/opinions/suggestions/ideas on how to improve the P1 registration should be taken up at this thread: http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=18535
This thread is for discussions pertaining to policies/rules which are in effect presently.
Thank you. -
From MOE website :Balloting at Phase 2B will be conducted on Wednesday, 25 July 2012. The schools have informed parents concerned of the balloting time. Parents are welcome to witness the conduct of the balloting.
Therefore, everyone in phase 2B has the equally chances.
