Oh 1 more question,

what does it mean by recommended reading list? Does it mean my kid has to be able to manage books around the same level as those stated in the list? Im a little worried as she's definitely still far from that.

Yes, the recommended reading list contains books that are recommended for the targeted level. It is not necessary to read all of them (can't find them in the library, super-hot) but it let us parents know the standard of books that our children should be reading.

Within each level, there are a good mix of authors, genre and standard. Some books are easier to read targeting new readers, others are for the more frequent readers.

        Hi HC_Parent,

Yes, ds is in pri six this year.

You will enjoy the six year bilingual environment in TNS.

        Cheers,
        Leanne

        Hi everyone,

yes I hear from my neighbours and sil that tns lower pri very laid-back n no homework. That's a pleasant surprise for a school like tao nan. But Im all for this system as I think it will b v stressful for young kids who just started formal school.

Btw what's GEP? What does it entail?

        Leanne,
wow does that mean your elder is p6 this year and the younger one is p1 next year?

Some Kiasu Orientation Day pointers for new Tao Nan parents 🙂

              1. if possible, both parents should go. One to stay at the hall to listen to the briefing, the other to go queue up to buy books, uniform, etc. Queues are much shorter when the briefing is still on.

              2. Tao Nan allows students to wear PE attire, instead of school uniform to school on PE days, and everyday during hot weather seasons. So depending on your laundry washing cycle, you may want to buy extra set of PE attire.

              3. There are other days other than the orientation day itself, that vendors will be selling uniforms and books at TNS.

              4. There may be other vendors selling other stuff like story books, etc on that day.

              🙂

                I think its quite confirmed.

My child's form teacher told me that it will be shifted to Bedok, diagonally opposite Bedok MRT. I believe it is holdin the St Anthonys presently.

I was told it is going to be 2013.
There is no official words yet, just a lot of rumors.
Hi, is this going to be an interim move while they upgrade or build a new facility?? Or are they going to redevelop the sch at Bedok to house TNS permanently? Any idea??

                    Hello All,

                    Just to share.

Tao Nan school has an awesome principal. It was such a heart warming scence, seeing the principal and some parents forming a "TRAIN SHELTER" on an improtu basis ,just to get the students up the bus to sit for their final paper in Chung Cheng this morning.

The students in tao nan are so lucky to have such a good principal and wonderful parents there.
