Dear parents,
Understand that 1st July is youth day, may I confirm whether is 2nd July (Monday) is a school holiday for Tao nan students ? :scratchhead: Did any parents receive the notification regarding this holiday? -
Hi Happymon,
2/7 is a school holiday. My girl did not take out any circular yesterday so i don't know whether they will receive it today.
However confirmed 2/7 is a school holiday.
Have a nice long weekend.

Dear TNS parents,
need some guidance on P1 registration here...
My son will be registering this year for Primary school and because my alma mater is Red Swastika, and my husband's is Tao Nan School, we can choose to send my boy to either school through phase 2A1... and we are faced with a dilemma of which school to send my son to.
For those of you parents who already have children in Tao Nan school, can you share with me on how you find the school, and if given a choice, which of the 2 schools will you choose (honestly), what are the things you like and dislike about TNS?
I really want a school where there is a balanced focus on developing the whole child, not a skewed overtly focus on academics, though of course academics should still be good. Does the school expects all the children to already know their stuff (like what I have heard alot about on the schools these days, and how they expect parents to have already send the children for enrichment classes). I have heard alot about TNS being very academic, and my sisters who sent her 3 kids there (and was also a school HOD) said that she finds some other neighbourhood primary schools' teachers and programmes even better than TNS... please don't get offended, but that was her opinion...
Thank you, and I would really appreciate any sharing.. Registration is next Friday!

Just find it strange that why your sister still sent all 3 of her children to TNS if she truly believe some other neighbourhood schools' teachers and programme are better than TNS. Isn't she contradicting herself? :?

Hi Tankee,
Her eldest is in Primary 6 this year, and the 2nd one in primary 4. The youngest is supposedly in P1 this year, but they are overseas now and they are in the british international school, so the youngest one hasn't officially started at TNS yet. Her eldest got transferred to TNS in P2, and I guess when he's at P3, it's still too early to assess if the school is good, so with the convenience of Ph1, she enrolled her 2nd child into TNS for P1. I am not sure if her no 3 will start at TNS when she eventually comes back... but with the convenience of Ph 1, really, it may make more sense for her to continue at TNS, since she stays no where near the schools she finds are very good. She has no other options as both her husband and her pri schools are no longer in existence...
For me, I still have the option of sending my child to RSS... -
I don’t know nuts about Red Swastika and to be frank, I did not know much about TNS when I registered my son in TNS. Simply know that it is a choice school with GEP program. I believed Red Swastika is also a choice school.
If you ask me about TNS now that my child is in P2, so far his teachers are pretty caring, the standard is pretty high, school prog is OK. I don’t have any really negative experience of the school in this past 1.5 years. But will I strongly recommend other parents to put their child in TNS? I don’t think so. Cos I will not know the child and whether he is a good fit to the culture in TNS.
If I do have a choice between 2 choice schools in Phase 2A, I will choose the school which is nearer my place or which my kids can get there easily.
One other factor which may affect your choice - TNS will be sited at a holding school from 2014 to 2015, moving back to the original site in 2016. The holding school is near Bedok Central.
Cheers
Bless

Hi bless,
What’s the culture of Tao Nan? -
Hi iemuhs, Both of them are equally good schools. Do choose the one that is nearer to your place. Your kid will not need to wake up very early & reach home very late.
