SpartanMum:
Drop CCA if it is not going to be used for DSA? Some parents will :torchme: me by saying it but I am being honest.
I can so relate to that. DS1's CA1 is 3 days away and he has not done any proper revision at all . No time becos of CCA and piles of HW. Saw some of his answers to some Science Qs last nite and realized he was nowhere near ready. What to do? There are 24 hours only in a day! Told myself CA1 got to just lower expectations ... a lot .fleetingdream:
mine is having in early March. So stressed that I am so teary
recently, but not in front of my family. Gets emo :siao: just by reading any article when I am alone in the morning. Then feels better after I cry. So far, for the past week already.
Feeling the jitters :gloomy:
Keep telling myself to stay positive. This weekend is firefighting time! -
I am of the thought that unless the child requests to drop / stop his CCA, we should let him continue for as long as he wants.
The CCA, though might take up some of the revision time, will keep the child sane, and provides a balance from the academic persuits. -

My kid a 2013 PSLE candidate , sat for the ‘easy’ Maths paper, did good. School prepared Maths well, gave plenty of killer problem sums practise. Luckily, we didn’t over drill on killer problem sums at home. The PSLE stress thro’ last year was nightmarish.

DS cried last night after failing to complete his CA1 paper given by his tuition centre, partly is lack of time, he is supposed to reach the centre 15min before the actual time but he totally forgotten abt it. another reason is he complaint paper too difficult.
when all his classmate finished and left the centre at 9pm, he started to tears. the tutor got to call me and ask if i allow him to stay behind to complete his paper (left with comprehension). i wanted to but i think DS is not in the right state to complete the paper seeing that all his frds had left and i suspect he is very tired from whole day of school. so i requested the tutor to allow him to bring the paper back to do.
when he reached home, i asked why he cry, he kept queit and refused to answer.
i feel sorry that his timing is tight and is tired due to long day of school and tuition. but told him to hang on for another 7 months.
i do allow him to take break in between to watch TV and use his hp
DS is the introvet kind i have to probe to get answer from him, otherwise he will just suffer in silent
wonder if any of the mommy out there is going thr the same phase as me -
Had similar experience with DD1’s maths a couple of years back when she took PSLE.
It can be extremely nerve-wrecking, so hang in there. Have faith that PSLE is not out to kill our children and your child will definitely pass EL.
Don’t tip the scale now. Whatever confidence he lost last night must be recovered. Give him the encouragement and assurance that he lost time in being a bit late. Perhaps try another CA paper at home with time frame to re-collect his lost confidence; set everything right and move on.
Then, simply be there for him, hug him and love him. -
thks Bluebells,i have been doing that, assurancing him, no matter what his result is, i will still be beside him and love him
the reaction he gave me is a weak smile . haiz
so long he try his best, i am happy already -

Ya DS likes his CCA . I also thinks it helps him be more balanced and to de- stress . What I 'd love to cut down though are the after -school compulsory supplementary classes :skeptical: Have always doubted how much these kids can learn after a long morning in school
I agreed.BlueBells:

Already opt out of CCA since p4.
CCA not compulsory
Need stay back in school twice to thrice a week so no time to indulge in any CCA
