      Nebbermind:
According to the http://www.moe.gov.sg/media/press/2012/05/direct-admission-exercises-for-sec-sch-jc-poly.php, there are some 91 schools participating in the DSA exercise.

I'm not sure if most of them will be offering 'academic' DSA.

Just wondering, if your kid has been getting about 80% consistently, would you bother to try for acad DSA to a school with, say, 235~245 COP?
      Hi,

My niece did the above. She regretted later as she did better than expected in PSLE and could have join a better school.

Of course, if one decide to take this option, he has to be firm that that is the school he wanted and not because he couldn’t go to the ‘other school’ he wanted to.

Secondly, once having decided, no more ‘what ifs’. Coz with the CO, not only the kid but also the whole family will be blessed with the much needed PEACE. Also, it may be coz of this PEACE that one eventually perform above expectation. In life, one can’t have everything, ya? Like what I said…forget the ‘what ifs’.

:hi5: mine, too. Hope to learn from all the well-informed/experienced mums n dads.

Question: can a student apply into a SAP school if he/she did not take HCL? Alternatively, will the applicant be rejected or penalized if, having met COP but fail HCL? TIA

Hi - I haven’t posted in a long long time. Just a silent reader … DD1 will be taking PSLE in 2014.

Yes, can apply into SAP sec school even if he/she did not take HCL in primary school, as long as the COP is met.

I doubt if the applicant will be rejected or penalized if he/she had met the COP but failed HCL, if you are applying via S1 posting since HCL is not even a requirement for entrance to SAP school.

That said, the student may struggle with the subject if he/she chooses to go to a SAP sec school where HCL is compulsory. I've heard that some SAP sec schools have set a minimum HCL grade as part of its promotion criteria to the next level.

Nebbermind, not true leh. We did dsa for niche sch but till now still no news after interview in Jul. Called sch 3x but was given different reason, the last being the sch will not be sending out any letters, wait for moe letter instead. So there is technically no 'peace' at our end while taking the psle. Another potential change by moe? :scratchhead:

Any idea if cannot cope HCL, can just take normal Chinese in SAP schools?

No CO? The take it as a FAT NO lor. Sorry for being so blunt but really have to move on if most of the others have already got an response from the schools.
