      Angelight:

Hi mummies, those of u who are using normal vacuum cleaners pls enlightened me which types are better - with disposable bag or bag less? Anyone used Rowenta brand before, is it good? I saw the Panasonic MC 300 series, very compact and lightweight, but not sure if its good. Appreciate any advice. Thks!

Bagless is never as powerful as those with bags.

I have two vacuum cleaners - one Rowenta and one Bosch, i love them both as they are compact, yet powerful.

Anyone used Rowenta Compacteo Ergo model RO5227 before? Any negative reviews? Are all Rowenta performance just as good? Thanks.

Thanks elkniwt, GLORYmum and tearsforfears for your concern, dd is fine. I have reported the incident to the sch this morning. I understand that the sch has always been working closely with the neighbourhood police, and they will alert the NPP on this incident. Dd will take a different (but longer) route with her friends from now.

      Hi

For the safety of your dd and others, it will be good if you report the case to school.
Of course, intended to, just that office is already closed for the day.

Hi, just want to alert parents of what my dd encounter on her way home fr sch today. As she was walking to the mrt via Tiong Bahru park, a man grabbed her by her arm and tried to drag her along, insisting that she is in need of help (lost?) and to follow him to report police. My girl being timid and small built did not shout for help or put up any struggle, only replied him no. Fortunately a lady happen to walk towards them & the man let go of her & walked away. The kind lady did ask my girl whether is she ok and if she knew the man. My dd’s new friends do not go via that direction, but with lots of students walking the same path, such incidents still happened! Guess he targets those who are alone. Beware.

2014 Sec 1 Booklist and Stationery list is out on the school’s website. You can print it out to calculate how much it cost, decide on the necessary and strike out the unnecessary items so that it will not be a mad rush on reporting day.

If you can, do head to Bibi & Baba at Far East shopping centre to purchase your uniform so that you need not queue for uniform fitting on reporting day as well.

Which schools offer DSA for Scouts?

If you are looking at \"top schools\", there probably isn't any.
However, in moe website, there is a list of schools, some of them their niche area is in the uniform groups.
If these are your target schools, you may go to the school website to find out more.

Hi, my conventional iron just broke down. Need advice/feedback from parents here if the steam iron Philip/Novita brand, the 'vacuum cleaner' type is good compared to normal iron using with the ironing board. Thank you

Unless you can settle for a less than perfect look, the steam iron will only reduce crease/wrinkle. For some materials, a normal iron is still needed for the pressed look.

Nice knowing you, kamon. Not sure about the morning traffic as he takes public transport, and usually reaches sch half an hour early. My niece’s sch has 3 cca days in a week as she is in competitive sports, so my guess is 2 cca days in a week is quite common in sec sch. Will you be attending the welcome tea this saturday?

DS join GESS this year. He especially enjoyed the CCA orientation last Fri. Lessons started this week and he already had Maths homework yesterday. So far, his comments about the sch and his experiences were all positive.

    • RE: 2013 PSLE Discussions and Strategy

      Hi parents,

Does your child’s math teacher insist on the last sentence for paper 2? My dd’s teacher says she will minus 1 mark if they do not write, but my ds’s teacher did not insist so last year when he took his psle. I find it wierd as it takes time to write that statement. Time is so precious, and I don’t see how this statement contributes to the 3-5 marks. Isn’t working more important for the marks allocation? And if the child copied the answer in the statement wrongly, wouldn’t they be penalised and lost marks then? What’s the logic?
