The Abacus started in mid Dec 2010 where teach in English. I find that CMA is rather expensive. CC charge me $10 for the book & the abacus!titank:
I just signed up the abacus course at the CC. See how the progress after 10 sessions before deciding to switch other abacus provider.
Hi titank
I also signed my child up for abacus course at a CC but it is taught in chinese. Trying to kill 2 birds with one stone. Learn abacus and at the same time have more Chinese language time. He prefers to communicate in English. Hope it doesn't backfire, i.e. can't understand the lesson!
Starts in Feb. When does the course start for your child? Will decide whether to join CMA after that. There's a branch near my place. -
Any website to recommend to learn abacus for adults so that I can teach my kid…

Hi
I'm so happy that I found this forum with parents discussing on Abacus classes for children.
My boy is in P1 and would like to enrol him too so as to build up his maths foundation. At the sametime I am looking for classes on creative writing with speech and drama, in K2 he has this as enrichment lesson which he can write and speak well.
Im staying in woodlands does anyone know or can recommend any CC that are conducting this course and hopefully it is near my house. Any recommendations?
Thanks. -
Hi, can anyone share feedback/experience with 3G Abacus? TIA

RE: 3G abacus
Sometime back I shared in this forum about marrying 3G abacus and Problem Solving (which is the problem with many kids).
I'm happy to share that my classes have commenced and so far, the students like the problem solving component after learning how to calculate on the abacus.
And I'm happy to find a like-minded 3G abacus instructor who will be opening classes at her home in AMK.

Hihi, just wana check on E&P’s teaching method… vs CMA…
can someone advise me?
any comments? -
Abacus kids are amazing!

Hi, my daughter has been learning abacus for almost 1 year but till now she still uses her fingers to count when I test her.
Thus, I am thinking does abacus really help as she is not applying at all.
In addition, primary school does not teach maths the abacus way so wouldn't it confuse the kid?
Can someone advise me as I am considering of dropping her off fr her abacus class. Thks! -
