All About Active Community Leaders

Hi please advise any updates on how long we should be active leaders.
-
Hi there
I only chanced upon reading on becoming active community leader here after my application for PV was rejected
(overwhelming response for the sch) & am desperate enough to look for ways to help my boy enrol in the sch of choice.
After the many many threads, I'm a bit confused so hoping someone can enlighten me on these:
1. If my boy is due for P1 reg in 2013 for the 2014 P1 batch (he's a 2007 baby), is it too late to apply to RC? :scared: - read about the min. term as EM is 1 yr to qualify for phase 2B but am concerned about the application & observation period to join RC.
2. To sign up for RC, do I have to fill up the online nomination form or do I go straight to the nearest CC?
Should I say that I'm there to volunteer or I want to join RC (is there a difference)?
3. Can we call the RC ahead to check whether there are still vacancies for EM positions & the no. of observers they have currently? -

Minimum is 12 months from the official date of confirmation as Exec Member/GRL. -
See my reply.

>> You need to be confirmed as EM latest 30 Jun 2012. It may be a bit tight in terms of schedule, chance is quite slim as the process includes few weeks to months of screening before even joining the RC as Observers. Then Observer status is around 6 months (minimum to cater), even if you're pretty active.

>> Suggest you sign up at RC or CC (must tell them you want to volunteer at RC). Pls ensure you get into the right RC which you belongs to. Volunteer at CC may mean different things, which I am not too sure, but you may not enjoy any benefits.
3. Can we call the RC ahead to check whether there are still vacancies for EM positions & the no. of observers they have currently?
>> Best to check with PA (PA usually has office in CC which manages grassroots org within the constituency). They have the official RC list. RC itself may not have the correct figure. To let you know, the info exchange between RC and PA can be quite messy. -

We also need to factor in a few months for the chairman to seek the Advisor for endorsement and PA to process the confirmation applicationhairuliza:

This year, there was regroup of constituencies and the PA/CC are still sorting out who is responsible for which area, i.e there is a reorg within each constituency. So expect more delay in processing all these applications -
Thanks for the info! From the looks of it, we’ll have to leave it to balloting @ Phase 2C.

Hi Hairuliza,
If you have time to serve, no harm trying. Alternatively, can try to apply to your school of choice to serve as Parent Volunteer.

Hi please advise any updates on how long we should be active leaders.
I think as a GRL, the activeness is for life. Give back to the community. -
I agree! :xedfingers:
