To be in any of the grassroots organisation, you will need to live in Tanjong Pagar GRC and join the RC. This is also provided the next election is not called before 2020 and there is a boundary change again.

Don’t just think of the current situation. In the future, your grandchildren will also benefit (if no changes to the selection system).


If it is not too inconvenient, can consider 2 kids 2 different schools.

Staying at Tiong Bahru area. Pick up is at 6.30am.

I have been serving as a Grassroots Ex Co member for sometime, but my residence is 2km from the school of choice. We have an alternative residence within 1km of the school of which my hubby IC is registered with.

Can you advise in such a scenario, can i apply for phase 2b as a grassroots leader? And use my hubby's address to apply for phase 2c?

Will it be an issue to have different address in this case?

There was a case where the tenants and owners applied at the same time using the same address. In the end, the tenants application was accepted but not the owners.

Dear all, an Important circular was issued by CED on 11 APR 14 regarding changes to P1 registration priority schemes for GRLs.


There are two important changes:

1) Min service requirement will be increased from 1yr to 2years (period served as observer do not count)

2) GRLs/District Councillors are only eligble for schools in the GRC or SMC they reside;

i.e. e.g. if you stay in Tampines GRC, but you serve in our CCMC, the priority scheme will only allow u to qualify for schools in Tampines GRC.

The changes will take effect starting from the 2016 P1 registration exercise for admission to P1 2017.

Members who wish to be eligible for the 2016 P1 registration must be appointed by latest 30 June 14 to qualify for min 2 years service criterion.

For RC application, we can only apply to the GRC that we reside.

I think everyone is confused.

To be in the RC, you need to live in the GRC which the RC is in. Therefore, your 2B in the GRC where you serve. Of course this is also where you live.

To be in the CCC or CCMC, you need not live in the GRC you serve. Therefore, the 2B is considered for the GRC which you stay and the GRC where you serve. Do note that the responsibility for CCC and CCMC is more as the activities organised is not at RC level but at a bigger scale.

I'm new in this forum. I have been reading threads and now in dilemma.

I will moving to my MIL house in coming 1-2 years. Understand from the above threads, I understand I should be joining my house's RC but the chairman mentioned that I can join their RC even I am not staying at my MIL's place. Can anyone please advise? To be frank, I hope to get the letter for my son to entitle for phase 2B.
