Pinkytann:
Where's the address in your IC? If your address shows the your current place, then can.Hi everyone,
I'm new in this forum. I have been reading threads and now in dilemma.
I will moving to my MIL house in coming 1-2 years. Understand from the above threads, I understand I should be joining my house's RC but the chairman mentioned that I can join their RC even I am not staying at my MIL's place. Can anyone please advise? To be frank, I hope to get the letter for my son to entitle for phase 2B.
Thanks in advance! -

For RC application, we can only apply to the GRC that we reside.
I think everyone is confused.
To be in the RC, you need to live in the GRC which the RC is in. Therefore, your 2B in the GRC where you serve. Of course this is also where you live.
To be in the CCC or CCMC, you need not live in the GRC you serve. Therefore, the 2B is considered for the GRC which you stay and the GRC where you serve. Do note that the responsibility for CCC and CCMC is more as the activities organised is not at RC level but at a bigger scale. -
Hi pirahna,
Thanks for your reply. My child is enrolling 2017. My current address is in SK. I am selling my house in 1 year’s time to move into my MIL house. My MIL house is in Marine Parade GRC and within 1km is Maha Bodhi. Hence I actually went to the RC and the chairman mentioned I can join their RC. Any advise on this?
Pandon me, what is CCC or CCMC?
Thanks. -
CCC is:Citizens’ Consultative Committee.
CCMC: Community Centre/Club Management Committee -

Anybody can join the RC and their activities, regardless of place of abode.
However, only the Executive Committee is eligible for the recommendation letter. And Ex Co members are typically living in the constituency. -
floppy:
All confirmed members of RC (Exec Member or GRL) are eligible for the P2B priority, not just ExCo members. This point has been clarified many times before. ExCo members are just GRL holding an appt to serve the RC with all members' support.

To qualify as active community leaders, the People’s Association (PA) requires the community leaders to serve actively in these Committees for at least one year prior to the P1 registration exercise.

Maybe ExCo wasn't the right term, but you will have to be a committee member in the Residents' Committee, and not just a member participating in the RC activities. -
floppy:
Of course members of RC refers to Executive Members, not observers who are not confirmed members. There is no such thing as members participating in RC activities but are not members, but probably block rep or whatever they call them. The point here is one need not be in ExCo. I've served as Secretary for 1 term and vice-chair in RC for 2 terms, so pretty sure of the details. Cheers!

Thanks mommyfel, floppy and timtim.
Can I say that after being observer and being active for 1 year, we will automatically upgrade to confirmed members of RC? Do we have a letter or chairman will announce that we have become a confirmed member of RC?
Is there a quota to be a confirmed member of RC? -
Pinkytann:
After observer (period depends), you will become confirmed members, not after 1 yr of service. Quota is 30 if no change by PA. I can't really recall if there's a letter but Chairman will usually announce during meeting and recorded in minutes of meeting. Thanks mommyfel, floppy and timtim.
