      Zhen:
      Hi,

I also did check with Kumon with their teaching method, after knowing, I decide not to enroll my DD. Cos if I enroll my DD, I am afraid that I need to enroll some other maths lesson for the problem sums.
      Hi Zhen,

So Kumon is only better for lower primary or Kindergarten kids? Was initially thinking about giving it a try but after seeing some of the posts about it on the ksp forum, might give it a miss. But wonder why are they so popular if they only teach the basic math?

The Question show a face of a clock and instructed the students to tell the time using \"o'clock\" or \"half past\".

        My question is,

        - is \"half past 12\" acceptable or must it be \"half past twelve\"
        - likewise \"3 o'clock\" or \"three o'clock\"

        :?
Number is fine unless they specify, write the answer in words.

          Kumon is like
laying the foundation of a house,
          the stronger the foundation,
the higher the house can be build,

          like the basic of maths.
So, this shouldn't be undermined too.

Different education centres have different phillosophies.
So parents have to look out for the one that suits their child's needs
          to reap the best results.

hi tankee. i'd just be on the safe side and use the words instead of the numbers... 🙂

            Thanks Muffins. 😄

                Hi parents,

Is it ok for P1 kids to still count using their hands, I am a bit worried as my child keeps counting using her hands, for example when I ask her what is
9 + 5, she must use her hands to count, is that normal for P1 or should I be worried?

Agree that Kumon lays the basic foundation which is important. Then again need to find a centre that suits child’s needs. My DS’ persoanlity and temperament not suitable for Kumon’s style whilst by DD benefited from Kumon. She is P2 now and is almost done with learning fractions.

                      Hi Jade,

Have you found something for your son? My son is the active type, I tried Kumon but he got very bored, I am now looking for another maths enrichment centre.

Trick question? What is your answer?

Mrs Tan bought 23 apples. She threw away 3 rotten apples and shared the rest with her four children. How many apples would each child get?
