Psst citygirl, it should be DD. Don't think MGS or RGPS will take in her DS.I think both RGPS and MGS are good schools and it really depends on what you look for in a school and whether your DS is likely to enjoy the environment...
To be eligible for P2B registration at MGS through a church affiliation, you will need to be a member of any Methodist church in Singapore. I believe both your DS and at least one parent will need to be baptised...

hi citygirl - thanks for the advise. I am within 1km of RGPS. I’m living in Hillcrest Road. It’s just that many people advise me on trying for MGS because of the continuation to Sec School. So I’m giving it some thought

Hi dardar63,
Allow me to give my personal opinion.
I’m staying within 1km to Pei Hwa…my son is there. But for my daughter who’s going to P1 next yr, we have registered her in my former school which has an affiliated secondary school. The reason is bcos there is less stress at P6 and if she does well in her PSLE, she can choose to go back to the affiliated sec school or another sec school. Up to her.
My son will have to work very hard in order to get into a good secondary school. For my daughter, I will want her to work hard to get into a good secondary class. -

Sigh, guess my two DS are always at the back of my mind and can influence even my typing!

Oops sorry, I thought I read Hillview! And I typed DS instead of DD. Duh! :stupid:
I think your chances are much higher at RGPS than at MGS. This year, MGS had balloting within 1km in Phase 2B. So unless you are an old girl, you'll pretty much have to live within 1km and be a Methodist in order to get a shot at balloting.
Have you considered SCGS? It's another good all-girls school that also has affiliation to secondary, and is down the road from your home. They accept PVs very selectively and this year, there was no balloting at Phase 2B.
Here's another idea for you - instead of PVing, you could consider volunteering at your NC (assuming you are under the Tanjong Pagar constituency).
If you can get the coveted PA letter, it will allow you to register in Phase 2B at any school within the Tanjong Pagar constituency, which includes both RGPS and SCGS. That way, you do not have to decide now, nor do you have to PV at two schools or worry about not getting accepted as a PV. When the time comes to register, you just monitor your chances at both schools and decide. -
Hi citygirl,
Your chances of registering daughter in RGPS is very high, given the close proximity…with no affiliation to sec school, the child has to work very hard to get into his/her choice sec school (which is what my son will face).
So, I strongly you consider either SCGS or MGS (very tough since balloting was conducted for those staying within 1km). 6 years pass very fast…before you realize, it’s time to prepare for PSLE. Do consider your options carefully. -
Pssttt...janet_lee88, citygirl wasn't the one asking. It was dardar63.

sorry to interrupt, I think your DS are in front of your mind, not at the back. Also, your avatar shows 4 girls ...... lol -
And i was thinking why are we talking about registering DSs in MGS and RGPS??? Lol…
