If you have the time and are able to go through and explain to your kid, there is really no need for tuition at P3. What you need is a good Science process skills book to guide your kid along. Teach them to read the specifics of the questions and answer strictly with reference to the question. General answers using their general knowledge of the subject ain't gonna cut it. It takes a while for the kids to get the hang of it but at P3, Science is still pretty straight forward.

Hi, my ds is going Pr 3 next year too. :please:
Which guide book is good to start with? recommendation pls :boogie:
Would appreciate for good assessment/guide books for Maths too

        Hi,

For Maths, I bought MC workbook and MC test book, recommended by the school bookstore for DS P2. Personally, the books were pretty good. I might just stick with MC books for P3.

For Science, I just saw a colourful book Science Booster (Lower Block Science) by MC as well. Think this one can allow the kid to take interest in Science as there is a lot of interesting pictures on it. You might want to check out this one.

To ts: Maybe you can allow your child to try the papers and practice first before putting him/her into tuition.

For me I do not trust my own science coaching. Thus decided to let ds join the science tuition ASAP.

Yeah, I bought the science booster too. I find this booster not bad,I take it as a storybook for him. Read it with him n understand together… Ha… but overall, ds still need to b guided how to ans the science question in a correct way with the right keyword.

                  Hi,

Is there any good P3 science tuition centre/teacher in Pasir Ris/Tampines/Simei area? Any recommendations?

Is Mind Stretcher/KRTC good? Anyone has experience with them?

                  TIA.

It’s so sad that parents are thinking of putting children into tuition before they have even started studying a subject. You could have a science genius on your hands!

In this way my sympathies are with MOE to ever change the system 😉

                      i totally agree with you.
my son never had science tuition till this year ie p6 and that seemed to have caused him to fall behind every year...fine, though he never failed but he couldn't break out of the 60 mark range.

a classmate of his had math and science tuition from start (p3) and that boy had a better foundation than son.

seriously, this is the state we are in now.

For lower primary, there will be a change next year. It was stated in our book list that 2013 is the last to use the current my pals 2Ed, something like that.

Hopefully, new version/edition in 2014 would have more comprehensive coverage.
