Edureach:
Not only SHHK's schools take HCL fr P1. Even neighbourhood schools offer HCL to P1 students whose chinese are stronger. At lower pri, the difference between the HCL and CL syllabus is not much, really.phtthp:
Ai Tong is so hot this yr! What are some of the school's strengths ?
Amongst SHHK'S pri schs, it ranks no.2 after Toa Nan. Learn HCL frm P1 onwards so MT more all less resolved. -
Just saw this info somewhere.....
Apparently Bishan CC Women's Executive Committe (WEC), together with GYPS will be organising a http://www.guangyangpri.moe.edu.sg/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=271&Itemid=308 on this Sat 9am at Bishan CC (nearby Junction 8).
It is part of GYPS's community outreach programme and is free for all residents if you register it http://www.guangyangpri.moe.edu.sg/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=271&Itemid=308.
Good for those parents who prepare their kids for next year P1. -

I think guangyang pri will be giving the talk as it was mentioned \"GYPS's...outreach programme\".:)

Hard to say. Can't really compare apple to apple but Fur-ma could be right. As in AT could really be hotter than CHS this year, if not on par. Coz even though CHS has added a class, its total enrolment is 240 whereas AT's total enrolment is 330 (hence admitting more students). Given that it has more vacancies to start with (330) compared to CHS (240), it is now left with only 38 vacancies compared with CHS's 51 (AT has clearly admitted more students).Fur-ma:
Cannot believe that AT can be hotter than CH this year. If only some of the boys trying for AT would go CH, then maybe my dd got chance. Oh well. I am quite firm that KCPPS will be where we will register next week
Actually, CH added one more class this year, otherwise it would be hotter than AT. There will be some drop outs/withdrawals from Phase 1 and 2A1/2 which will be subsequently added back to 2B and 2C pool.
And given that CHS is an all-boy's school with strong affiliation to the Sec school , most parents with boys would want to go CHS but it seems AT is also attracting quite a number of boys. So, it's quite a close fight. -
I am feeling very confused. We are eligible to register for AT or KCPPS under 2B. If we fail to ballot successfully for AT, then confirm cannot get into KCPPS at 2C cos we are outside 2km. Then if we fail to get into AT at 2C, dd would probably end up in another school that is very inconvenient for us in terms of public transport. Although I intend to put her on the school bus, I need to anticipate days when I may need my maid to fetch her home if she is sick or she needs to go early / stays back for activities. I can put her on waiting list for transfer to AT but there is never any guarantee that she can be transferred (AT tells me that there are more than 200 on wait list for transfer).
The rational decision to make would be to register at KCPPS and forget AT. But I feel so so sad that I have to give it up after spending so much time and effort to get shhk's letter of recommendation. I am so jealous of my neighbour who is a SAHM and can fetch her kid if he ends up in a school further away in the event he fails to get into AT. There is less at stake for her than for us.
What should I do

I think you may like to wait until the last day of registration for 2B to weigh your odds for AT and KCPPS.
Maybe you may like to think something positive about KCPPS. Like it has affiliation to the sec sch and both are at the same compound too. -
I thk u shd go for KCPS! AT will def hve balloting!! N the chances donβt look that good (gut feel)!! Shd u end up not getting either AT or KCPS at the end of the day, u might feel even more disappointed!

I think you should try for AT. you got the shhk recommendation letter which is hard to come by! You have 2 ballot slips at 2B. If that fails, you have another 2 ballot slips at 2C. (Erm, maybe monitor the numbers on the 2nd day of 2B la!)
If you talk about public tpt, fr sin ming to KCPPS is actually not so convenient. Either must change bus at interchange, or walk fr interchange to sch, or take a big bus loop.
It's a gamble. But if you never try, you'll be looking at AT longingly for the next 6 years.
But you if don't opt for AT, i can also give you some reasons to comfort you! Ha ha, i have many friends whose kids fr AT. The displeasure and complaints i hear fr them .... -

Erm ... about the affiliation to the sec sch, it's not that great seriously. It is useful if your kid is borderline between Express and NA, otherwise, most of the students in the first 2 classes of each cohort never want to go back to the sec sch.I think you may like to wait until the last day of registration for 2B to weigh your odds for AT and KCPPS.
Maybe you may like to think something positive about KCPPS. Like it has affiliation to the sec sch and both are at the same compound too.
