Good morning Bishan Mummies !
The day started out bright and cheery but right now, there is a heavy overcast and it is starting to drizzle...
As of yesterday, 37 have registered with the following breakdown:
Less than 1km = 5
Between 1 to 2km = 2
More than 2km = 30
The good news is, there is not a single soul at CHS this morning at 9am.
So, cheer up and stay hopeful !

Yes, my boy hated taking the school bus too.
Not only that you have to deal with the bigger bullies, there have been fights as well.
The worst part is actually the time it takes.
A mere 5mins' drive can turn into a 45mins ride by school bus!
MRT is probably the better choice !

Transfers is not easy on the child.
Getting into primary school is a big step and it is not easy for him to accept the new environment, new teachers and make new friends.
Do consider this carefully, children hate changes and your child might end up unhappy, though in a good and convenient school :? -
Hello! I am new to Kiasu Parents website.
I must thank you for all the updates the last 2 days over CHS registration. I join all the Bishan mummies in dealing with stress! Today is a critical day for me to decide if to put my boy in SJIJ under 2A2 as my hubby is an old boy or just forgo and wait for 2C for CHS. I am vexed as I wanted to go by faith under 2C but looking at the available vacancies, I am waivering in faith! Shucks! -

That means there's unlikely to be any balloting for 2A2 and more places for 2B/2C! -
Sigh… even if no one registers at CHS today, it is still 25 vacancies (12 each for Phase 2B and 2C). How to ballot for 12 places? The chances are still very very slim…
Dunno if I should just give up Catholic education altogether and try for Ai Tong or Kuo Chuan instead at Phase 2C.
If Maris Stella also need to ballot, we >2km pple would not stand a chance at 2C.
Big Foot, we gotta be prepared for worst-case scenario if we take the risk at CHS or Maris. -
What happens if we do not get into 2C of CHS? Do we go and appeal to school of our next choice or await for MOE to assign. SJIJ is just too far and if I am not wrong, P1 is in the afternoon session. Poor boy will be so tired by the time he gets home via school bus. :?:

If I were you, take SJIJ first. At least your hubby is old boy, lucky you. At Phase 2C, you can watch the ballot ratio for CHS before deciding whether to withdraw him from SJIJ and take part in the crazy CHS ballot. At least you would have secured a place at SJIJ which in my opinion is a good school. -

Today's a crucial day for you...why don't you register your boy for SJIJ & secure him a 'seat' under a Catholic school first? So you can 'buy' time for next few days and decide again if you want to try for CHS under 2C? YOu can withdraw your application from SJIJ next week should you opt to try for CHS next Thursday. -

Say theres only 12 vacancies left in P2B and 2C
Not many parents are willing to risk going to ballot considering theres only 12 vacancies left. They might have better chances at other schools.
SO…that leaves a small group of parents will to take the risk. Therefore higher chance of getting in.
