      Hi Tanglin,

Welcome to TGPS Forum and glad to hear you are considering TGPS for your child/children.

TGPS Open House usually takes place in July, if my memory did not fail me.. πŸ˜‰ The school will put up banner by the main gate A and B to indicate the open house date/time.

Beside this open house, TGPS also host community events - Lantern Festival and PFC Sports Day event, which allows parents/children to visit the school.

Of course, the open house event will suit you and your child most as the Principal/Teachers/Staff will be onsite to answer your queries.

Hope this helps and looking forward to hearing from you on the forum.

      Cheers,
      astee

Everyone on this thread is so helpful and friendly that I thought I would say hi as well. I live within 1km of Teck Ghee and right now debating whether to register my twins at TG or Kuo Chuan which is 1-2km fr our home. All my friends are telling me to try ballot for Kuo Chuan but I like what I've seen on TG's website - my kids love art and craft.

Has anyone faced the same problem? If so, can you pls share why you chose TG?

Will the school allow us to pay a visit before the open house? Anyone knows their policy on twins - separate class or not?

        :thankyou:

          Hi HolidayQ,

Nice nick and it makes me feel like holidaying again... πŸ˜‰

Welcome to the forum and indeed most of the parents here are helpful and friendly and we are like one BIG family, growing each and everyday.

I guess if you cannot make it for the open house event, you can ask the school for special permission to do a site visit with your twins.

I have 2 children in TGPS (P4/P2),the reason why i chose TGPS is simple - vincity and its single session operating hours. I live within 1km of the school and i am the main person taking care of their afterschool needs, so vincity was my top consideration. Also having read about TGPS passed academic/non-academic achievements, i was confident it will provide my children with the right value and teaching that will carry them far in life. πŸ˜‚

Visit both the shortlisted schools and talk to the school principals and staff, i believe you will be able to draw a picture in your mind for your twins. That was what some parents had done and finally decided on TG. πŸ˜„

I had seen twins in the school but not sure for P1, will they be assigned to same class.

Good Luck to your preparation for your twins into the Primary School Journey and no matter which school you chose for them, we know its the right one for them.

ps: sorry to hog the thread... :imsorry:

          Cheers,
          Astee

            Hi Ching and holidayQ,

Sorry for late reply. Single session is one of the main reasons I chose TGPS. Similar to holidayQ, I live within 1km of TGPS and 1-2km of KC. Townsville is also near to my place. But out of these three schools, only TGPS is single session (there is another school that is just within a stone throw from my house is unfortunately too competitive for us to get in). I also believe having the rest of day off and have quality time with the family in the evening is more important for us. Also, I like what I saw and heard about TGPS so it is easy for us to make the choice.

So far DS has enjoyed his school days at TG so I am glad I make the right choice for him :rahrah: . I agree with Astee's advice: go visit the school and talk to the teachers and principal there and you will know the right choice.

Good luck to you all comes this July and August.

              Hi Astee and rejoice137,

Thanks for your reassuring feedback and kind advice. I'm becoming more and more convinced that TG is the right choice. Will definitely contact the schools for a visit.

I also prefer morning session but worried about the kids having to eat lunch in school almost everyday. Just thinking about what to pack in their lunch boxes is making me πŸ˜“

rejoice137, we could be neighbours πŸ˜‰

                Hi holidayQ,

I share your concern about packing lunch too. Do hope by next year when your twins join, the canteen situation is already under controlled. At least the school has one year to work out all the issues and concerns. For now, I am going to go library to find out more idea on bento and lunch to pack :-).

Hehe. Yes we could be neighbors:-). I used to walk with my DS to school in the morning. With the park open up, it is actually a nice walk across the park :-).

Hi, should be OK for you to visit. Make a call just in case πŸ™‚ Just to share, hubby and I visited the school just before registration started. We just dropped in without notice, asked about the school's academic results and the teacher who spoke to us asked if we would like to take a walk around the school. We were impressed by her friendliness πŸ˜› Also visited a few other schools but had the best impression of TGPS πŸ™‚

I am also very appreciative of the parent volunteers. I don't bring DS to school myself nowadays but when it rains, I drive him to school and I am most impressed by the parent volunteers helping out in the rain to direct traffic. Even the principal is at the foyer to help out πŸ˜„

                    Hi Astee,

Thanks for the welcome and your helpful advice! We gain precious info about the school through reading this thread and are deeply appreciative of the TGPS parents who are so generous to share their views and insights. i live nearer to the bishan side so i don't get a chance to walk past the school very often - wonder if they will put up the info on their website when open house draws near?

                    Rejoice 137,
i think i can guess which popular school u are referring to...it's in fact just 5 mins walk from my place. competition is even tougher this year with the completion of the Clover condo and the new DBSS flats πŸ˜“ it's really encouraging to read about your good experience with TGPS. with half a year down to registration, i'm desperately trying to gather as much info as i can about the 3 nearest schools...

                    HolidayQ,
my boy has a pair of twins in his kindy and another pair in his weekend enrichment class. so i can't help but wonder if we happen to know u n ur kids...hee hee

                      Hi Rejoice,

Are you into Bento-ing? I am looking for someone whom has on-hands experienced doing bentos and probably if you are agreeable, we can arrange a small \"Bento Making Session\". πŸ˜„

I want to learn to do bentos... πŸ˜‰

                      Cheers,

                        Hi Tanglin,

You are most welcome and we are all learning from one another experienced and i am still learning everyday. πŸ˜‰

I think the school will put up the open house date in its website and we will be happy to share the details, once it confirmed, on this forum too. So definitely there are other avenue/sources for you to know the Open House date. Fear not...hehe. πŸ†’

Heard from my son tuition friend's grandma that the \"competitive school in mentioned\" is moving to a holding place near AMK while the school is undergoing renovation work to prepare itself for Single session operation. Not sure if the movement had been confirmed. πŸ˜‚

                        Cheers,
