Hi Astee,
Thanks for the info. Need to ballot if more than 1km or outside 2km? Oso, I was told P1 student will be given alot of homework, is it true? -
Hi OJ2,
You are most welcome. If i remembered correctly, one of the parents told us that last year 2011 registration, there was balloting for Phase 2C Supplementary. Which phase are you due for registration? Also this year SGP Child has priority over PR, so if you are SGP, then i would think 1 - 2 km should not be an issue. Do monitor the take up rate on MOE website as the phases end as this will give you an idea if balloting may be required at the few schools that you had shortlisted for your DD.
Yes, your were told correctly that P1 student will be given homework but in my personal opinion - it is not alot...
Normally it's a page or 2 pages or single worksheet. I guess being parents, we prefer homework, than to no homework. As we can gauge how our own child is doing in his/her school work. This homework is usually the current curriculum being taught in class.

i am under 2C. Hopefully i need not have to go through 2C sup. Actually my 1st choice is Aitong. but looking at the MOE registeration, i ve no chance. Yes, i prefer to have homework.
Btw, does your DS take up any CCA in P1? -
OJ2,
Wow..ATS - you need to do PSG/Stay within 500m/joined HK Clan, otherwise, chances are really as good as NIL.
My DS was interested in badminton since P1, now he is still waiting for his opportunity to join as i heard the places are full for the team, so they are not taking in anymore. He is p2 this year.
Have a great weekend.
cheers,

Hi OJ2,
ATS left with only 19 seats for 2C while TGPS still have 73. I think balloting formATS within 1km is definitely. TGPS should still go without balloting for 1km and if your kid is SGP, then likely no ballot at all. Just call up the school on the third day of 2C to find out more.
Actually my DS does not have lots of homework in P1. I was told they were given enough time in school to complete the work so they don’t have to bring back. I can tell that from the amount of worksheets he brought back after each term :-). This is he is P2 and his homework has increased from once a week to three to four times a week. I think that is a good sign and good enough volume as my DS has more time to go for other interesting lessons or just enjoy the afternoon at the park :-). I give him some assessment worksheet to do at home on those days he does not have homework or other classes.
Hi Astee,
Yes, we decided to let him try out Guzheng though hubby thinks it is more suitable for girls :-). Hope he enjoys it since he likes music. But then it also mean five less afternoons for him to play, haha. -
Hi Rejoice,
Good to hear that your DS is trying out for GZ and for your husband information, there are a handful of boys in the team and i don't think it's a girl's thing..
GZ has been one of the top CCA in TGPS and they have been given Gold rating for previous and this year SYF competitions. They also performed for community events and recently, even on Okto for a CNY program. It's a CCA that TGPS is very proud of amid the others.
So to be accepted in the team is already a great honor and it's takes alot of hard work and practices to be where they are today. Let's hope your DS will cont'd to bring the pride and glory to the school.
Cheers,

Hehe Astee, it is just a trial workshops. DS hasn’t even know how many strings are there in a GZ. I think the teacher invited him because he is currently learning piano now. DS might be "telling" his friends and teachers that he can play piano. HAha. He hasn’t learn to be humble yet :-).
Yes hope that he enjoys the music. I also hope that by playing GZ, he can be quieter. Haha. -
Hi Astee and Rejoice,
Thanks. Yes, i joined the Shhk 2 yrs ago and didnt knoe that i gotta stay within 1km in order to have a chance to be ballot at ATS. Regret! I didnt do my homework before joining.

Thanks Astee! We will be there on the 30th - see ya! -
Hi all
Not sure if you have any concern on the school hours this year, after trying out for two terms, I have decided to voice my concern and wrote a letter to the principals. If any of you don’t feel that the school should continue the current school hour, can I request you to also write or call the school to let them know? Thank you.
