I received the letter as well but has yet to call the school to change the timing as I could not make it at the allocated time. I don’t think the data is used for the arrangement of classes. If yes, on what basis and criteria?

        Hi Rejoice,

So it is unlikely the P2 teacher will follow up?

The form exercise says to fill up pupil data form, dental form, student contact form n mother tongue appln (if applicable).
I guess since you have DS1, then they can carry over the same info. Cos I recall in P1 appln we only fill up male-female n never indicate race or mother tongue. And the duplicate was sent back to us as confirmation.
But my personal opinion is that they could have just sent us the forms and we could submit them within deadline at our convenience.

          Hi Nimjago and Beauty,

You mean you need to go to the school to fill up the form? Hmm, I did not have to do that for DS1. I did remember filling up some forms for DS2 before the P1 registration. But hubby did the filling up so I am not too sure what was asked. May be the school would like to meet up with the parents as well to chat and get some input.

The kids will be stream for P3 so the whole class will be split. Likely the FT will be different for P3. I am not too sure if DS1 P1 FT will take up P1 class next year. Just wishing :-p.

I don’t have the impression the form filling session is to meet up any teachers as most teachers are out during PSLE marking. Most prob just fill in at a counter set up at the foyer. Wonder why can’t fill in form on the orientation day itself.

Was reading forum of other sch, seems like they also have this form filling exercise before the orientation day. Whereas some sch have confirmed P1 pupils' classes.

Anyway was looking at sch website n noticed orientation day is results admin day n holiday for the schooling pupils. So Rejoice can bring DS1 to watch over DS2 🙂

Orientation day means sit in the actual P1 classroom, meet actual form teacher and buy books, arrange for school bus? Experienced old birds can share?

                    Hi Beauty,

During the orientation day, the students will go to their future P1 classrooms and meet with their FT and classmates. In the classroom, the teacher will let the students do some worksheet and coloring. I believe the kids need to bring along a pencil case and color pencils that day. While the students are in the classroom, the parents will be in the hall. The principals and teachers will share with the parents information about the school, including school hours, uniforms, books purchase and school bus. Other more details information such as CCA, tests, exams, parents support group will be shared on the first two days of school. If i remember correctly, you should be able to purchase school uniform, shoes and talk to the bus vendor on orientation day. It is good to bring the kids to orientation day so that they are familiar with the teacher, classmates and environment.

Hehe Ninjago, think DS2 will be too excited to meet his classmates and not care too much about DS1;).

Apparently the letter about form filling exercise has been sitting in my mailbox since last Friday ;-). I called up the school today. They told me they will pass the forms to my DS1 for me to fill at home. If you are not able to go during the marking day, call up the school to see if they can arrange for a pick up on other more convenient time.

Is the school classrooms air-conditioned? Thanks.

                        Hi Miracle Child,

The school classrooms are non-air conditioned. They are well-ventilated with ceiling fans, which is a better option, especially for the children after their PE lessons - they will be all sweaty and \"smelly\"...hehe. 😉

Having said that, there are few facilities rooms which are air-con, namely the music room, ava room, computer lab and library. 😄

                        Hope this answered your query.

                        Cheers,
                        astee
