      Hi All

Thank you for the great advise. Sorry that I havent been too active in the ST STEPHEN forum blog. Just happen to update and read whats latest in Kiasuparents forum that I chance upon the wonderful replies/advise I received.

and yes DS is still in St Stephen 😞

Hey hashroop ... don't fret ... 2 of my boys are also in SSS. Older one just got PSLE results today. Younger one in P5 next year - sadly going to one of the lesser classes.

The thing about the top classes is it happens at most primary schools - I doubt any school can have all \"top classes\" ... it's just the nature of life -- Darwinian if you may.

Your younger boy still has a year left to prepare for PSLE ... don't waste it. Do not depend on the teacher to give him homework or extra assessments. He has to take the initiative to do it himself, starting now.

Presumably he has his weaker subjects - you will need a good tutor for this who can help him to improve (rather than just push more assessments to him - anyone can do that).

Very important thing is also for him to read more too - if he is not into reading already. It's just the nature of our education system here.

Lastly - take note of the friend's he mixes with -- they play a big part in your son's perspective on studies and life in general.

      Good luck in P6!

Thank you dear..advise noted. True we cannot depend on teachers but to invest in a good tutor if want results..
New Principal coming in next year..hope this change in head will help SSS.
      Rgds

new principal has settled in at SSS, and apparently, a few parent have already called up on him to view their concerns on teachers’ attitude and diminishing p5 2010 maths results

Yeah 263... put SSS on par with OEPS (Opera Estate Pri Sch which is also near SSS) and OEPS is \"somewhat considered a neighbourhood school\".

Let's hope the new Principal will do his/her best to help the students 🙂

Hashroop - all the best to your son ! PSLE for him this year right? All work & no play makes Jack a dull boy 🙂 So tell him to remember to take a break amidst all those studying.

                      Hi All

My son and my nephew just started Primary One at St Stephen’s and both were posted to the same class. However, both have informed me that their form teacher is prone to shouting and scolding the students and is very harsh towards the class in general. I know boys can be quite playful but given that this is just the 2nd week of school and the boys are adapting to a new environment, do you think I should have a talk with the form teacher?

This is true for I've seen it myself many times. DS1 is in sec 1 and DS2 is in P6, I've seen this eversince DS1 was in P1. You may want to talk to the teacher and the best time will be next week during meet the parents. After speech given by principal all parents will be led to their son's classroom wher the form teacher will have their talk. That's the best time i would say.
