Hi, I’m a desperate & dishearted parent who failed in balloting for Pri 1 registration (2010) Phrase 2C at Ai Tong Primary School.
Does it help to submit the "Waiting List Form"?
Is there anything else I can do for my child?
Any good advices from all the experts? -

There is at least some chance you might be able to get your kid in if you are on the waiting list, vs no chance at all if you are not.Hi, I'm a desperate & dishearted parent who failed in balloting for Pri 1 registration (2010) Phrase 2C at Ai Tong Primary School.

Help your child do well in P1 and P2. At that point of time, with a good academic record, you should have leverage when you re-approach the school again if you are still interested. -
Hubby and I are targeting ATS for our kids (2005 and 2007). Plans are on track as hubby has joined the Huay Kwan and we stay <1km.
We are an English speaking family and more than my fear of my kids not meeting the Chinese standard, I’m concerned about whether they will fit in with a Chinese School culture. Sorry for any generalisations but I hv the impression that a Ch school focuses more on academic achievements rather than looking at the child as a whole. I am from an IJ school so a Ch sch is like worlds apart. Am I wrong in my perception? Appreciate comments and views about ATS’ culture -
Hi Aitong Parents,
I just heard that Aitong is changing its principal. Apparently announced at the board level. Anyone heard of more news…like who is the new principal and where he/she from?
Will be good if someone can share. -

Hi Fur-ma, in fact Ch school are quite strict on displicine and behaviour too, not just academic. ATS just changed their rules this year. Before changing, girls are not allowed to keep long hair unless they have special grant from the school due to CCA eg. the dance group. Checks on socks length, finger nails, hair and uniform are quite common and particulary strict with the higher level students.Hubby and I are targeting ATS for our kids (2005 and 2007). In ATS, their school song is in Chinese. Students have to say National pledge in Mandarin. Chinese festivals are widely celebrated. In P5 and P6, ff you opt for HCL, the normal chinese lessons are on after school hours.
They have cultural exchange programe for P5 students (optional). If ATS sutdents choose to participate, students from China come to Singapore to stay in ATS students house for a week. Then ATS students would go China to stay in the Chinese students house for a week. There is also tour to China for students (optional).
In general, that's what I can think of ....

Thanks Daisyt for your reply. Sounds like plenty of interesting activities and program. Hope my kids will like it there. Did your kids enjoy ATS?

Hi Fur-ma, yes she enjoyed apart from a few common issues in this type of competitive school. -
Hi, I’m new to this forum. ds1 will be attending P1 at ATS next year too.
