Hi S_Patience,
I heard about this from a friend although the person cannot be sure as well. But I did see a post earlier on the same topic so I thought "no smoke without fire".
We am now staying in the North but my mum stays in Thomson. We intend to use our parent’s address as they are the caregiver for my girl and we expect that she will still be holding up at their place after school as well.
I am not so sure about the area right now with the construction of the light industrial building.
Nothing2do,
The industrial building next to it is 8-storey I think. Perhaps the students have it mixed up.
It will be nice if anyone can provide news on this. -

Hi stiook,
A high rise building would be possible, if they are not re-locating.
I called the school but they are not sure. They could be in the midst of fund-raising or discussion with Hokkien shareholders.
Assuming the students move to a temporary premises for 2 years. Would anyone know if the 1 or 2km distance applies to current premises or the temporary premises?
thanks… -

Hi Meiah,
thanks for your reply.
Have a nice day. -
Hi, did any P1 parent hear about some test being conducted? Wonder what was the purpose of it? Checking their proficiency?

oh.. since they have just added the indoor sports hall, it does sound unlikely that they are gonna move. My colleague would be happy to hear that.
Hi, I was reading RGPS thread and it seems that students have been informed the school will be shifting to a holding place along Alexandra Road even though a new indoor sports hall has just been built.
I understand from a teacher-friend that to meet the single session deadline in 2016, many government schools will be shifting to holding places and if the land size of current premise does not permit horizontal expansion, 6 storeys school building will be built with lifts. The GUESS is the lifts will be restricted to staff and teachers, so the staff and teachers' rooms will be located on the high floors.
However, MOE also mentioned in Apr 2009, that aided schools will be given more flexibility in their transition timeline as they have to take into account stakeholders' concerns. http://www.moe.gov.sg/initiatives/single-session/
From the Tao Nan forum in KSP, Tao Nan is also rumoured to be moving to a holding place. -

Can ATS parents share your comments on Mrs Erat?
Hi March BA,

Hi Parents
I’ve a son who was born in 2005. I’m torn between sending him to ATS or HPPS which is nearer home.
I’m ex-ATS and would like him in a more chinese-y environment but dunno if he will be able to cope cos he hates speaking in Mandarin etc. (partly also cos he’s not confident in the language). Another concern for me is the distance. We’re in Clementi.
Can parents with children in ATS give me some feedback? Especially those whose kids have to travel far to get to ATS.
Please PM me if you’re not comfortable sharing here. Your honesty is much appreciated. Thank you. -

I was ex-ATS, not staying near ATS but not as far as you. Travel by school bus, my girl had to wake up at 5:30am. Travel by public transport, also need about 1 hour (mrt and bus). She still managed to survive throughout the 6 years, in fact a good training for her because she has no problem with less sleep nowadays. When in P6, she started to go school and come home on her own.
DD never liked Chinese too, even in ATS (we speak English at home). Only till P5, she began to like it. Although ATS is a SAP school, I still see many students dislike Chinese but good enough to manage in exam. Her chinese was bad when in Kindergarden, cannot speak full sentence in Mandarin, but she was coping well in ATS. She never spoke Mandarin to her classmates during normal conversation, but she did well in Chinese PSLE.
Hope the above helps.
