If you are 1-2km St. Gab then it’s ok to try at 2C.
I’m keen on this plan too. I’m sc and within 1km of Cat High. Old boy at St Gabs but considering to try Cat High at 2B and if unsuccessful St Gabs at 2C.
Will mean giving up my old boy privilege at St Gabs though. Does this sound like a risky plan ? -

Hi there is a cat high chat that was created before. Maybe you can pm me. The chat admins want some verification before they give out the link for security purposes.

Hello all!
My husband and I are in a huge dilemma now!
We will be under phase 2b, within 1km radius when we register for our DS P1 next year (for 2022 intake) at Cat High.
Given that we are also PV at another nearby school B, the odds of us securing an admission into school B will be rather high upon our completion of PV hours. (basing of past year results/ history)
In this case, will it be risky for us to just go ahead and apply for 2B at Cat high and continue on from there or should we just go ahead with school B? Of course, Cat high is the more popular school for many reasons and our preferred choice, but its extremely stressful to think that we may not have a chance of getting admitted after all the many rounds of balloting… Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much in advance! -

I think the answer is obvious. You have chosen to do PV at another school with a more or less confirmed seat at 2B.

Unless there’s some red flags about that school, or something else that turns you off about that school, I’d say just use the confirmed seat.
Don’t need to give up that confirmed seat (which came via your sacrificed time & hard work) for CHS’ risky balloting odds - it’s a nice school but it’s affiliation COP is sky high, not many students can make use of it anyway. -

is school b an option for you to consider at phase 2c? Based on your description, it sounds like a cat high Vs kuo Chuan dilemma. This dilemna has been widely talked On the kiasuparent registration chats including this year’s one. It all depends on your risk appetite and desire to get into one school over the other.

Based on what you shared, the school that you are currently Parent Volunteer in, can be one of the following 3, by guess :-

- Kuo Chuan Presbyterian primary
Or
- St Andrew Junior
Or
- Keng Cheng primary
Once you gotten a place through PV under Phase 2B in any of the above 3 schools, and later if you withdraw and ballot for Catholic High under Phase 2C, hope your child will be balloted in.
However, if in the unfortunate event get balloted out, probably Guangyang primary still have some seats left, under 2C Supp. If you are all right with Guangyang as the back up school under 2C Supp, can proceed to ballot in 2C. Otherwise, just stick to that Phase 2B school, which you have already spent so many hours to PV in,
unless ...
in the course of clocking up your regular PV duties hour by hour, you have come to discover more about the insights of the school so well, realized that this is not quite what you would want your son to be in, for the next 6 years of his primary school journey, decide to give up this PV-school in the end, inspite of all your hard work contributions.
===========================
Kuo Chuan Presbyterian primary is affliated to her Secondary, who in turn is affliated to St Andrew Junior College (SAJC).
St Andrew Junior, is affliated to her Secondary, who in turn is also affliated to SAJC.
Whether go Kuo Chuan or go St Andrew Junior, can secure a \"passport\" for your son for the next 12 years, from Primary 1 all the way until Junior College (2) graduation, although at P6 check point, he can choose to go to some other Secondary schools too, based on his AL PSLE points. -
May I know how is the GEP in Catholic High? I read from somewhere in the previous thread that it is not popular. May I know any reason?
