2am:
Hello everybody,
I am new to the forum. Just signed up to join the forum to learn more from parents here!
My DS will register for P1 this year. Our plan is to send him to CHS for Year 2013 but we are staying in CCK. There have been loads of discouragement from family members to send him there as they say its too far.
Just wondering if there are any family in the same situation as me? Can share how early my DS will have to wake up to catch the school bus and also roughly how much the school bus fee will be?
Thank you very much
I would be in the same situation as you except I stay in Choa Chu Kang Crescent. -
Hi I'm new here. Going to register my boy this year for P1 in 2013 intake. We live in Upper East Coast area. I'm planning to drive him to school because so poor thing if have to wake up so early for school bus since we live quite far from CHS. Anybody else in the East? Can advise which route is best and timings? I heard that the Bartley Flyover is quite smooth early in the mornings. I'm very scared to use CTE.
Also I've been checking the school website. They have no open house? Or have I missed it already?
Looking forward to meeting you all and learning from all the experts here.

Are there no good schools in the East? Why subject your boy to such long hours of travelling, to & fro, everyday? :scratchhead:Hi I'm new here. Cos the father is old boy and alumni member. And we have no affiliations with schools in the East. If for some reason he does not get in, then we will pick a neighbourhood school. Also Cath High is so highly regarded. Seems a waste to just let go of Phase 2A no?

I will say go for it! Many people do so many things just manage to get a chance for balloting. Don't waste your confirm place in 2A. If you are driving him to school no worries. In china some will try by public transport 2 hrs one way during cold winter/hot summer just to send their kid to a popular tuition class. Singapore is so tiny , just test drive several different routes and time these routes before you decide which one to use & if you try to arrive school by 7am traffic should be ok on non rainy days
in addition, CHS has an affiliated sec school which will act as safety net during PSLE hence don't give up your 2A spot! CHS will be having having a family day on 30Jun, bring your boy there for a chance to see what the school is like

But I heard that Principal briefed p6 parents this year that the affiliated points will be done away with IP this coming year? Apparently, affiliated boys will be taken in at around 245 to 248 (not sure what?). Outside boys taken at only 250 and above.
Any p6 parents attended the briefing and can elaborate? -

Oh.. No.. Please don't let this be true.. Am hoping my DS2 will qualify for CHS Sec under the affiliation scheme.. That was the reason why I applied for transfer for my DS2, to CHS Pri, last year.. He is in P4 this year..jheng:

If he's in p4, wouldn't you have received a letter from the school informing of this new COP?? When my ds2 was in p2, we received a letter informing us of the new COP of 230 that would affect his cohort. And then those from the cohort after his received another letter for a higher COP, I think.

Maybe you check with school?
If not, then do DSA, like my boy?
Altho' I must say that after every term test this year, I hope the school doesn't kick him out.
