what i like is his dad's acts and and humble replies...

Mr Lim Thye Chean, 41, quit his well-paying job as a chief technology officer at an Internet Protocol TV company in April this year to set up Virtual GS, an e-portfolio that publishes his and his son’s works.

In an interview with Yahoo! Singapore, the proud father does not think his son is a child prodigy.

“He is just a normal kid like everybody else. I think Ding Wen developed an interest in programming because his dad is a programmer. Right now, I’m happy because we can discuss programming-related stuff together, and write software to ‘compete’ with each other. It’s a father-and-son thing,” he claimed.

Since jedamum said I should stop snooping and start posting.... 😉

My DD1 was asked to buy the school song book. According to jedamum, her DS1 got that in P1 so I think it was put under the \"Optional\" list which I ignored. Just a few days ago, my DD1 went to the sch bkshop to get the school song book but was told that there was no such thing. :? Can anyone here help clarify? I did ask DD1 to ask jedamum's DS1 for a look-see of the book but they are a pair of old grandparents, always forgetting \"unimportant\" stuff so other then me making a trip to the bkshop personally with baby in tow, I'm hoping for some confirmation here.

If the CCA day is Friday last year, will it be Friday again this year? DD1 says that the noticeboard has yet to be updated and the sch website is also not updated so I don't know who to ask. As a last resort, I can always ask her form teacher but I know how busy they are. The reason why I'd like to know is so that I can set a day with DD1's Chinese tuition teacher.

            Many TIA! 😄

                    ikae,
are there still any meet the parents session if there are no exams? if yes, ask the teacher when will there be streaming and if so, based on what criteria. prior to my son's batch, students are streamed at end of P1. my son although he had SA1 and SA2 during P1, there is no streaming at end of P1. then they abolished SA1 and have SA2 last year. then basing 100% on this SA2 results, students are streamed into different P3 classes at end of P2. i feel that this may not be a fair gauge to stream based only on one exam. and there is no formal notice to inform parents that there are streaming at which level. if the school is going to do so for your kid's batch, it is better for you to keep up with the revision at home.
SA1 is exam around May and SA2 exam is around october. for my boy, this year, their SA1, CA2 and SA2 are all taken into consideration for computing the year end results.

your kid did not complete means no time to check ah? P4 SA1 doing what ah? systems or cycles?
didn't know the science standard is not easy. my ds1 said he only has 15min to check. i expect him to have 30min to check cos the paper is 1.5hrs. he said got 30mcq and 14 OE. for each OE question, here are 3 parts. so 3x14=42 plus 30mcq, no wonder take up so much time. he at home do other school past year paper also never take more than an hour. then exam notice say no testing on topic materials, but ds1 said have question asking about whether a certain material is once alive or not. :scared:
