Hi
I am looking forward to admit my son in Lianhua Primary if he get chance. I am new to this area & have no pre-knowledge about the school. Appreciate if some parent can share some info about the school.
1. How they are academically ? I found that recent PSLE scores are better. Is it?
2. Teachers are caring ? Do they respond quickly?
3. How about CCA ? I have seen a long list of available CCA which is really impressive. But do they learn something useful during the CCA ?
4. What is the local vs foreign student ratio there?
I will be highly obliged if someone answer to my question.
Regards -
Dear Mamona,
My son is in P6 this year, we do not know our luck with PSLE yet, but so far, I am very satisfied
with our experience in Lianhua Primary. See my input.
1. How they are academically ? I found that recent PSLE scores are better. Is it?
The school score A* for academic effort, they push those with higher academic abilities hard
yet not letting go of others with non academic abilities.
2. Teachers are caring ? Do they respond quickly?
Those teachers that I know are caring. And I know who to vote for if there is a most responsive teacher award.
3. How about CCA ? I have seen a long list of available CCA which is really impressive. But do they learn something useful during the CCA ?
My son forgo his chance to the Robotics club, his friends went on overseas competition trips, USA, Taiwan etc…My son enjoyed leisure time
in Chess club for 3 yrs.
4. What is the local vs foreign student ratio there?
Interesting question, foreign students (from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, China…) I am not sure about the ratio, different years will have different concentration. -
Adding to academic arena, due to our catchment neighbourhood, there is mix students of different family expectations, not all are expecting an aggregate of above 250. Let's not place too high weightage on top PSLE scores. :rahrah:

Hi,
My boy is in P2 this yr at LHPS. Just like to check any kids under the MT teacher Mdm Ong? Would like to gather some feedback on this teacher. -
I have little impression of Chinese teachers of Lianhua

Thanks piggybank!
As my boy is too active in the class so i think his MT teacher don really can handle him. Wan to check anyone know which teacher in LHPS is good at handling active kids? -
I know the current form teachers (EMS) of 6 Diamond and 5 Diamond are fantastic at handling overly intelligent/active kids.
-
Oh really? But Diamond is the top class so don’t think my boy will ever get into it.
Hmm seems like that those good teachers are usually assigned to those top classes? haii like tat my boy will never have the chance then. I don’t need him to go to the best class , i just hope he can get a good & patient teacher who hopefully can manage him better. -
I heard 6 Amethyst has a very progressive Maths teacher. And I saw my son’s favourite P2 teacher, a young, extra slim Ms T heading P1 last year. There is one other motherly type teacher I know teaching lower primary. I think Lianhua teacher allocation is quite strategic ie.patient teachers for lower primary, teachers good at challenging those who learn faster in the Diamonds, follow by Amethyst. There is also a teacher my son had who was about to retire, he was in P1 then, managed to top her class, well that was P1. Guess what, she went to teach ART. I think that’s a win win win move for students, school and herself.
