Calling Lianhuarians' parents, what titles are your children reading? -
My boy is starting on book 9 of The 39 Clues, and completed 3 of The Diary of a Wimpy Kid. It is difficult to get him to read classics. Can anyone share on your experience. I am glad he has liking for no fiction books, those are knowledge builders. But fiction books are important to his writing skills.

Can I also try to call out to any parent from THE CLASS P3 it will be fun to gossip online while our children cannot do that in class.

Thanks Piggybank, look forward to Allblack's reply
and happy holidays to you all. -

piggybank,
have not start my boy on 39 Clues cos the books' font size is a bit small....:politebleah:. have not start him on Wimpy kid too cos i had just asked my friend to get me the chinese version; told my son that i will let him read the english version and buy him the diary version after he completed the chinese version.
he reads mostly horrible science series which i get from the library. have lined up Beyond Spiderwicks for his June Holidays reading.
yes, my boy does not like classics too. and he only reads the books that i borrowed for him if i tell him to; otherwise, he ends up playing with his brother the whole day.....

Dear Jedamum,
I think 39 Clues maybe slightly thick for a P2 but you never know, you can also introduce your boy to their website http://www.the39clue.com. There is another boy book series, ZAC POWER, with double size words.
You got your friend to buy Chinese version Wimpy Kid from China? I have long given up on Chinese books liao, I bought 1 Chinese translated Geronimo Stilton, it was simply a waste, untouched. For Chinese, I just started on \"My Paper\" subscription. I will try to read a some Chinese news to him everyday. And maybe some Chinese compositions. Personally, I think it is difficult for a young kid to enjoy reading both language books for leisure - too much to ask. I don't want to take the joy away from reading. -
piggybank,
thanks for the website.
can you share how to go about getting My Paper subscription?
i saw Stilton's chinese version in the library and find the words not easy. I read the first page of the Wimpy kid chinese version online (ie from dangdang's website preview page) and find them managable for me...at least i can read to him in that sense; an entry a day or so. i'm crossing my fingers and hoping no one in class will have the book and lend it to him. :politebleah: -
For "My Paper" you can call their circulation dept 63883838, some lucky households never subscribe but get it delivered free, we only got "Today" free. The annual subscription is $96, ok lah divide out, one month only $8.
For the Wimpy Kid, I have all 4 paperback (red, blue, green&yellow) english version, read only once, we can exchange Chinese with English. -
