CHIJ (Kellock)

Hi all! I'm a girl form CHIJ (Kellock), in P6 now.Hi, I'm considering CHIJ Kellock as one of the choices for my girl because it's very near grandparents' home and I kinda prefer a girls school. But I'm not ex-CHIJ [my school folded years ago :(...]
Really would like to hear from parents with girls currently in this school. How are the teachers? Teaching methods? Student experience? Any good and bad about the school?
Thanks a lot!
The teachers are awesome. If your daughter is going into CHIJ (Kellock) in 2011, try your luck on a teacher named Mrs Goh. Daphne Goh. She is a really good teacher and she will usually follow the Primary 1 class up to P2.
The first 5 years are filled with fun and excitement. The P5s have the most chances at learning leadership by partnering up with immersion kids from China (when they come annually). Etc..
I love my school! Yahoo!
Disadvantages would be its size and lack of facilities. -
Hi triplediao,
Can share with me what you think of Teacher Tan Shuxin?
Cheers, -
Dear All,
my girl is in P1 this year (2010).
this is my experience.
CHIJ Kellock is doing holistic assessment for all P1, hence there is constant feedback test ( topical ) throughout the year.
my girl’s form teacher, Ms Chua, is a dedicated, energetic, and patient teacher who constantly feedback to parents when needed ( as my girl was quite ‘active’ in class at the start of the year, hence pretty ‘famous’ in class ).
another thing i would like to share is that it has a whole strategy of teaching mathematics for P1.
The first maths topic that is taught to P1 is not number bond, addition/subtraction. it is a topic that i learnt when i was in Sec 1 :- Sets theory using Venn Diagram.
My girl’s MT teacher, Mdm Lee, is an experienced, caring teacher.
i think CHIJ is a very conducive environment for my girl to grow/excel.
just my thought

Dear all, congrats to all whose gals r going into CHIJ

do take note that the girls r required to wear uniform when they go for the orientation
the pinafold is supposed to cover over the knees...
the school is flexible enough to allow new girls to attend orientation without school uniform. i am the 'blur' parents who did not prepare before hand.
having said that, please do not follow my footsteps.
btw, my girl will be in P2 in 2011. i stay just a stone throw away from the school.

It is Netball as it is the popular CCA in CHIJ (Kellock). They have been in National Championships since 1993.
Primary 6 school team players may apply to join secondary schools that offer netball as their niche areas through the Direct School Admission for admission to Secondary 1.

Hi, it would be better to share details of individuals such as teachers privately over PMs, and not in an open forum.Hi triplediao,
Can share with me what you think of Teacher Tan Shuxin?

Went for the P1 orientation and was told the current class isn’t the final arrangement. Wondering how the school categorise each child in each class?

Want to know whether CHIJ kellock will have express class for P3 students. How to identify it?
