Btw, did you know that they have a compulsory enrichment programme on thursdays before the CCA? Since dd & ds have taken choir, they will come back late on tues, wed and thurs!

Yup mine in chior too. When DS told me its this wednesday? I was surprised too. Oh well! It's either that or he comes back 5.30 on Thursday if he picks another cca.
I'm feeling the heat now coz always like not enough time to do things.

I know! I was just thinking about it this morning when I told my dh about this. Feel sorry for them. Usually when they come back at 3:30 on Tuesday, they are so tired, can't do any studies that day. Now I wonder if out of 5 days, if they are tired on 3 days, how to finish hw and studies.


Luckily Beacon does not give lots of hw, otherwise with them I also die!

saw both your messages regarding the extended hours at school..does your child attend tuition too? My child is at P2 level and has just started tuition lessons 3 days a week for Eng, Math, Chinese :P... With the longer school hours and compulsory CCA at P3, cant help but worry how my girl's going to cope next year...sighed...really not easy for the child.

P2 to P3 is a huge jump for my kids, especially in terms of the number of hours they spend in school. As it stands now, they come back at 3:30 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. If your child takes a CCA which is not Choir or Scouts, then you get Wednesdays off (normal school time).

My children are not taking tution except for Chinese and Hindi which I am able to manage on the two days when they are home at normal times. I did stop their swimming lessons which used to take place on Thursdays and so now have to resource the same.

You have to manage the time say on Mon/Wed/Fri for tutions since Tue and Thurs will be CCA days. Just make sure your child does not take Scouts (Mondays) and Choir (Wednesdays) and this should be fine.

Thanks for the advise. Somehow I feel some changes too…there used to be little homework when she’s in P1 but now, everyday there’s work from school. Btw, are your kids taking school bus? My girl takes school bus and she only reaches home 45min or 1hr after school dismissal time, though our home location is less than 1.5km away from school. (Last year, she came home around 1:40pm or 3:30pm every Tuesdays) Take yesterday for instance, she reached home at 4pm though school dismissal time is 3pm. After her bath and snack, it’s nearing 5pm before she started working on schoolwork…there’s almost not much time for a good rest…I cant imagine when CCA kicks in…

Your girl gets hw? My kids rarely brought back hw in P2, even now very rarely. Ask your girl if she is finishing her work in school daily, the hw may be unfinished work.

Yesterday my kids also came back close to 4 pm. Where do you live? When I asked my kids they told me that they had to wait in school for the bus to drop off some students and come back and pick them up. Is your girl in PM 8?

If this happens on a regular basis, we may have to talk to the bus operator to ensure that they have enough buses and the children do not have to wait in school for the bus.

I did ask my gal about the schoolwork and why she did not finish at school…she said no time to complete at school…not too sure if the teachers didnt give them time to finish at school or just bcos she’s slow…will ask her again today…

My girl is taking PM6 but on Tuesdays, they changed her to PM1…she didnt mention about bus taking trips before picking them up, only that there are more drop-off points now and taking a longer route…

So this is not confined to just PM8. Does your girl come late on the days she finishes at 1:15? If there are more drop-offs, then it should be the same everyday. My children said they were asked to take PM5 after it finished one trip.

Maybe we should monitor the situation and see...

Yesterday DS just informed that Friday also have chior...:( I think I have to email the teacher in charge to see if DS can just go for Wed only? He's having tuition on Friday...Very rush for him...
