Dear all mummies and daddies of NYPS,
I was informed that the interview is conducted in the library. May I know where the library is? :scratchhead:
And for those who attended the interview, may I know what questions do they ask?
Any pitfalls I need to avoid during the interview?
Thanks in advance. I hope I pass the interview
and join you guys here :xedfingers: -

Does any parent have good feedback on the NYPS Chinese Basic Idioms Literacy Course for P2 students? Wonder if it is advisable to continue with the remaining 14 classes on our own after the first 6 sessions provided by the school?

Dear Parents
Class Promotion: P2 to P3
Can advise me how the school actually selects the students in so called fast track learners’ class.
Pupils are ranked by overall average score of 3 subjects - Do the school select students based on Top 5 achievers or more than best 5? During the meet the parent session, there was this ppt stated approx 40 pupils per class.
Band 4 classes of similar profile of fast track learners. – 85 to 95 marks score for each subjects, is it good enough to be in the fast track class?
Would appreciate if you could share the experience of your kids in such classes.
thankyou: -
It’s more than the Top 5.
If only the top 5, that’s 13 x 5 = 65 students only.
But there are 4 HA classes, so about 160 students.
According to Mrs Lee, the school will select the top 160 students
and mix them up in the 4 classes. She said that over the 2 years,
the teachers would have observed who the children can’t get along
with, and they will avoid putting those 2 children in the same class.
Other than that, they will also take boy-girl ratio into consideration
to ensure a good mix. So it’s not simply 1-40 in first class, 41-80 in
second class and so on. -

IMHO, streaming has never been and will never be an EXACT science. I would go so far to say that from experience, the powers that be would probably be 90-95% correct. There will be some they may miss out and there will be probably be a few they selected who may not be \"high achievers\".
must say that they are very very accurate in streaming (from experience)BigDevil:

From past experience, I know of a couple of \"dropouts\" from the GEP classes for example. But yes, generally the selection is pretty accurate. -
Pardon my ignorance, is there any difference between HA and non-HA classes? i.e. the usefulness of streaming at P2 to P3 classes…

I am interested to know also.
My DD has asked me, if her marks fall around 90 plus for 3 subjects, will she has the chance to go to HA class from P2 to P3.
I told her to try her best, not to worry. There is only so much a human soul can take in pressure. -
The top 38-40% of each cohort gets into HA classess…just a general question, how difficult is it to do so? Is the competition really tough? Just being kpo here…
