          Hi Joanne,

My son got into DLS from the ballot exercise just this year.
Maybe it would be great if u could share a little of the happenings
in DLS especially things that could interest all parents whose kids
are enrolled in P1 next year.

Other parents who already hv school going kids in DLS could contribute
to us new parents since I guess all schools differ in terms of their style & culture in education.

          Thanks in advance!!! 😉

            Hi baby2moma,

Welcome to DLS! Well, teachers are generally ok. Dedicated and young. Btw, DLS will be shifting to a holding schl in Teck Whye in year 2011 till 2012 for 2 yrs. Hopefully by then all classes will be single session!

              Hi Joanne,

              Thanks for replying....
I am quite excited with my son's first year into his primary
school life; hence the burning questions of how, what, why,
when from my end....heehehhe....it is as if I am the one
attending P1 and not sonnie. 😉
Hopefully, you or other parents sharing info in DLS thread
do not mind popping relevant info for new parents like us to know.

By the way, did the school discuss the moving of the school to
Teck Whye for 2011-12 with all parents? Also, is the renovation
of the school a major one since it is a whole 2 years of renovation?
Did the school explain the reno plans to all parents; ie what the
              renos consist of???
I remembered the confirmation of the move was only announced
in the school website after the June school hols this year.

Sorry for asking so many qns....

Of course DLS conducted dialogue sessions for parents to meet the Principal & the VP to share our feedback re transport to the holding schl, informing parents the reasons for this PRIME (Programme for Rebldg & Improving Existing Schl) programme. Well, PRIME prog is to equip schls wif uptodate physical facilities and aslo to facilitiate the schl’s transition to a single session. Alternatively, you can go to DLS website to read more re the PRIME programme.

Ya we were told sometime in July after the June schl holidays as they need to get affirmation & confirmation from MOE before releasing the PRIME programme to parents.

                  Dear All:

My son also got in DLS via balloting this year. After being relax for about half a month (really exhaust after the balloting), i think is time to start for P1 preparation. And really glad to see baby2momma again.

Any parents already receive the agenda for the P1 orientation?

All new DLS P1 new parents:

I just received a letter fr the school & stated the orientation day details, have you got it? Yesterday I am very tired after work & did not read it in details, but just get to know that my son is in St Gabriel 1 (I think this is the class name) and in Thomas House (Green). When I told my son this and his first reaction from him was “I don like green”. Although I got the same feeling but I am much appreciated as I got in via balloting, still can remember how stressful I am during that time. Recently, there were some young students commit suicides cases due to the stress from the schooling, really feel bad & sad.
Anyway, my dear battle friends, baby2momma, star 89, tri-mum & honeybee: have you start to prepare for the P1? I mean not only the academic, but something like “mentally counseling” to the kid, stationery, after & before school care etc?
