Even with the referal letter from the Venerable, you are also subjected to balloting within SBF itself. Every year they rec a big amount of letters from the temples and certain # of seats are allocated to the directors. Therefore this route is really not a sure win. Somewhat I feel grassroot + 1km is the safest if you really want to put ur kid in MBS.

Hi Peggy,hi,
my child is studying in MBS P3 now. We got in thru SBF. Is not necessary to join SBF in order to get in MBS. You can ask a Venerable monk (provided you have connections) to write a Letter of Recommendation to the school. Still can try now but a bit too late. During our time, we submitted in Feb even though registration is only in July.
My dd is still young for pri 1 she is 08 baby. hehe you might find me very kiasu but no choice cos i read this forum wah soo scary so i am finding out to get prepare when time comes.

Oh...then is very risky for me already cos i am out of 1KM.
What is grassroot? how to join? -
Hi,
You must be a SBF member not your mil. I suppose during registration, they will based on parents' status and not grandparents. But if your mil is a member, that also presents you with the opportunity to find out how she joined and if she has any contacts to refer you etc...
Personally, I got into MBS through a monk who was in MBS committee at that point. It was probably fate as my great grandma passed away so my parents always go to this particular temple. I was very tomboy and he actually thot I was a boy. He asked me which school I want to go to. I said MBS simply becoz I happened to know someone at that point who attended MBS. So he told my mum that when she see the P1 registration notice in the papers, she must go and find him. She did and my mum said I got the 2nd last place. I had other cousins who also studied in MBS and that was because my auntie went to queue for a place at 3am. Those were the days where mothers also worked hard in getting a good school for the child.
For phase 2B this year, there is no ballot. It was a botherline case. No one can guarantee that there will be no balloting in the year you are registering your child. It depends on demand and supply. Also, the no. of babies during that year,etc.... alot of considerations. You can only base on trend to make some predictions.
What makes you think MBS is less stressful then ???? -

Oh i see so the monk is at which temple, do you still remember? but as what the other mummy had mention if they got balloting within the SBF then is also not easy liao. My bb born in the rat yr and i think alot of baby born in that yr too cos my friends most of them got rat baby too.Hi,

Buddhism isnt incorporated into the acad teaching time. You'll find that the fraction of it is so little. -

Haha given that Singaporeans are more and more KS over the years, I suppose if the queing system is still implemented, parents will queue few days/ weeks ahead of registration (just like the case for property).
 -
Hi just to check fr parents who have existing children studying at MBS, do they have any swimming or girl guide as CCA? Btw, is there any CCA that is held on Saturday? Cos I m currently planning the time slots for my child’s enrichment next year…

haha.... it will become very scary. I think i have to give up on this MBS choice liao, i dont think the chance is very slim for me. I think i will stick with Temaske ba.chuaeil:

Hi MBS parents, may I know if the school bookshop is open on Saturday mornings? My boy is going to P1 next year, and we are supposed to go to the school next Wed to do some paperwork as well as to buy the textbooks. Instead of lugging back the heavy books all by myself, I’m thinking of going on a Saturday morning with my husband.
I understand that we can use Popular card to get discounts too. Is this applicable to all the items including exercise books and stationery?
Thank you.
