Maha Bodhi
-
Hi ciheal,
Next year’s P1 will still be in the pm. The session is from 1220 to 620pm. Parents are allowed to go into the school for the 1st 3 days during recess and during these 3 days, the food is being catered. Subsequently, the children will be allowed to buy their food. There will be PVs around assisting the children. hth -
Just to add on. You may sign up as parent volunteer to help out during the 3-day orientation for P1s. Duties include leading the P1 classes from the hall to classrooms after assembly and leading them from classrooms to canteen for recess. Recruitment is usually conducted after the briefing for P1 parents on registration day (the day when P1 parents go to school to do the admin paper work, buy books and uniform…some time in October.
For the first 3 days, food will be catered for all the P1 kids so they will just sit down to eat the food laid on their table. -

I am new here and my gal will be entering maha bodhi next yr P1. Can anybody advise me on the session and is anybody staying around bedok reservoir? do you let your child take the school bus? does the school bus pick up very early and drop off late?
also, are we allowed to be in the school for the first few days to ensure that they know how to buy food?
any advise is greatly appreciated!
Any other existing parents as well? Have you guys received the phase 1 registration confirmation from the school? -

It's not surprising.... my P4 and P3 also have different assessment criterias last year. Eg. when he was P2 last year, i observed that he was assessed on individual and group presentation, recitation,etc... which my P4 didn't have.
My cousin is actually teaching in MBS now and think she is one of those tasked with the role of assessment changes for lower primary. Think I got to consult her when the time comes. She related to me briefly that there will be more small?/ tropical tests that will form part of the assessment criteria. My impression is that it's not \"no more exams\" as what parents thought to be. But rather assessment criterias have changed, so kids are having more regular small assessment to ensure they understand and in fact, this is more \"stressful\" for us parents to ensure that they do well consistently. Is that the case???? -
…ya I think they are practising ‘learn more teach less’ for p3 science…and I am still not get use to it…so worried when come to SA!. Don’t know how to coach my dd!!!
-
I can't speak for others but for me, I feel more stress as I feel I need to be there to prepare my dd or make sure that she's prepared properly by the school. I feel that the Math assessment has been TOO broken down. There is a review after each topic taught.

Do you know what is the assessment composition of P3 SA1 Science ???
50 is main paper, 20 for the animal and the remaining 30???? I can't find it anywhere. Is it the classification they did during CA1? -

Oops so my guess was right. Actually it's not \"No more exams\" but the assessment is now more spreadout iso focusing on SAs only. This is good for those who have consistent performance but indeed stress for parents never ending exams.... I am already finding the CA and SAs for upper primary stress. Can't imagine I am gg to have a P1, P4 and P5 next year :nailbite:
Was about to have a career plans discussion with my boss. Probably I need to tell her that I want to stay in my current role for another 6 years????? until my youngest go to secondary and they will need me less :? -

I thinks so...and my dd said she only get 70+ overall .. ...For the classification paper, I think there are only 2 qns. So one qn totally wrong means the kid will only get 15/30..vlim:
