      Admummy:
Meet teacher session, must the child tag along?

No need if you have child care arrangement for your child.

errmm i thought all the P4 form are either male teachers or single ladies? and LM is a very senior teacher

We came to a conclusion that it's better to get senior citizen teachers as they are less likely to be pregnant. For the male teachers, if they are locals, they potentially need to go for reservist. I think we are quite \"lucky\" this year as my p4 is taught by a male non-sporean teacher.

For P5, my dd FT teaches them science and maths while EL is taught by another teacher.

However for my p1, her single teacher injured herself and has been out of school for a few months. However, since it's only P1 and low risk, we just leave it.

My dd's ft is the level manager and she is always needed elsewhere. Since term 2, another teacher (trainee) has been taking them english and math but she still teaches them science. The trainee has return to hq for more training and another teacher is taking over. :faint:

My P5 is changing EL teacher as her teacher will also be going for some training. Actually hoping the \"new\" teacher will improve their scores.

From what he told my kids, I thought he was from Msia or maybe he passed the reservist age... Not sure if he is a sporean now :? He is a new teacher who just joined at the beginning of the year.

This is new to me. The class position isn’t reflected on the report book but instead, we are given a clear breakdown of the class and cohort marks for both form class and chinese class. Is this the normal practice?

i believe this is a new initiative by the school. going forward, only have class positioning at the end of the year. no more level positioning from this year but top 3 in level at the end of the year will still receive a prize.

think it is good to have the summary table on the class and level max, min, mean etc marks for each subject. we can have a better indication of where our kids stand in class and in standard. positioning is secondary.

                      Yes, I agree with 7788.

When they do away with level ranking last year, it left us jittery on no basis of benchmark. Personally, having class ranking information is useless as it doesn’t tell much.

However with the initiative on the class and level scores this year, I think that is a good initiative. It gives parents a good indication of where their kids stand and how they compare to the cohort. But at the same time spare the kids the stress of their class/ level ranking. Especially those who are not doing too well. I think their initial objective has been achieved.

7788, your ds is now in Taiwan now? I heard the trip had to be brought forward? My P4 ds is going to Beijing this sunday… Now I am feeling alittle jittery about him losing his stuff as they are mostly staying in hotels. Unlike the Nanjing trip, where my dd stayed in school hostel.

                        hi MMM,

yes, the trip was brought forward one week as the hosting school could not accomodate them later. he left for taipei last sat and so is missing one whole week of school. now in hualien, back in taipei on fri and returning to sin this sat night. the principal must be real busy sending off the kids at the airport this weekend. the nanjing group is also departing this sun night.

my boy is staying in 3 different hotels during this 8D7N trip…hope he manages to pack everything back.

which teachers are going to beijing with the kids?
