Hi Parents My daughtrr giing to P1 in 2014. She is a PR and we live opp MBS. Second language is hindi which i will send her to hindi classes outside school. What are the chances that i can enrol her in the school in 2014. Please help me Iam new to kiasuparents. Thanks
I'm afraid e Sch only accept child who is taking Chinese as their second language (apart from English). Unless u r willing to take up chinese.
Moreover, due to new policy chances of PR getting into e Sch is too slim.
Hope it helps. -

Hi Babybubble... I am from the 1988 batch (graduated in 88).Hi mummies!
i am new here. My son is also entering MBS in 2013. I managed to get him enrolled under 2A1. I note that some mummies are also old girl/old boy here. Hi Councillor and Wolfgirl! which year are you guys from? Anyone else joining us in 2013 too?
What about u?
I only have a precious little girl, hence I am inexperienced in Pri school stuff.
Hope to learn more and share with parents here. -

Hi, anyone can pls advise the most logical things to do after not able to get in under Phase 2B to Maha Bodhi yesterday thru balloting

We are staying in Bishan:
1) To secure a seat under 2C at Kuo Chuan Pri, then waitlist MBS, or
2) Try Pei Chun under 2C if not successful then 2C supplement at Kuo Chuan Pri.

Would suggest you try a school nearer home as it may take your child a long time to travel to Maha Bodhi. You may also want to check whether there are school bus to Bishan. A parent I met recently told me that there was no sch bus to her place in Toa Payoh. End up she has to go and fetch her 2 kids (1 AM session and 1 PM session) everyday.
The schools you listed are a good schools. I have colleagues with children in these schools and they have told me that the schools have good initiatives for the children. So perhaps you can choose based on distance fr home to sch. -
Hi Eltonjuan
Did you register under 2A? You should have received a letter from MBS confirming that the child has been accpted into the school and that parties are invited to attend at the school to buy books/and do other admin stuffs/arrange transport on 16 Oct. I got the letter on 16 or 17 July I think. I am not sure if it applies to all parents or do they allocate different days for parents who had registered under different phases. Yar student orientation is somewhere in dec⦠-
Thanks alot Lostbunny for your kind advice!
I understand my second choice are consider good schools too, will decide carefully.
My heart is still feeling kinda of lousy

You did not mention the distance for both schools. But historically KCPS has balloting for 1-2km under phase 2C while for Pei Chun, it is balloting within 1km for 2C.
But this year has a new practise that gives priority to citizens. I assume that if you are a citizen, the above should apply (and who knows is actually more favorable if you are within 1km). But if you are non-citizen then it's different.
So the key question for you here is the distance and your citizenship. Personally to avoid going through disappointment again, I would think that you need to place your bet in the school that your child possibly can get in (based on distance and past history) and you are fine with the choice. I always feel that if one don't get your choice school by 2C, phase 3 is going to be tough as it will be whatever that is leftover.
In any case, you can always waitlist under MBS. This year is quite rare as historically phase 2b demand = supply. But don't lose heart. Not going to the preferred school doesn't mean it's the end. We've seen how neighbourhood schools produces top students as well. For all you know, your child might qualify for gep and move to another top school.
Just to add, my hairstylist's son was studying in CHS. He did not do well enough to continue with catholic high secondary and went to Kuo Chuan secondary. The last I heard his son was alot happier and did better for his studies. KCPS has affiliation to Kuo Chuan Secondary. I don't think Pei Chun has any affiliated secondary school????
