      20062008:
I saw some parents still sitting now there.... 😢

In fact, sin edu system shld be ok. When looking in a school I was more into their CCA and their \"extra learning\" experience....such as camp, community involvement...and of course I like MBS as it was a SAP school too...where CL is strongly enforce!

Anyway it was a bonus to me to know MBS CCA start fm P1 fm the threads here. :imcool:
Yah, actually, I just find it scary. Whenever I watch how parents shed tears of joy or weep when their kids fail to get in through ballot. Frankly and no offence, I told myself I don't want to be in that position. Sounds really stressful. So I always tell friends to go for the safest choice. Balloting is not for the weak hearted.

Yes, I think MBS is good (my personal view). Yes, it's not perfect and some would question why is the PSLE score not as high as it should be, is the standard dropping, why ain't they producing more top scorers, why is the mean score not as high, we also get our fair share of good and \"bad\" teachers.... but I am personally happy and proud of the school.

2 of my older kids got to do chinese immersion program in China when they were in P4. They got to join a great CCA (band) which they found so much pride and satisfaction when they won gold with honours during SYF. It also presented them with the opportunity to join some music talent development camp that is organised by MOE. They just enjoy school and we see the pride and confidence they get through such non-academic activities.

Besides that, I also see my dd1 got a chance to visit Chung Cheng Main for some lunar calendar activities as well as NYGH for some camp this year. Give her the exposure to these schools though unfortunately, she is not \"impressed\" so no motivation to work hard for these schools

Academically, the weak are not left behind. They don't focus on the good ones only. You probably have read that class size are smaller for weak students for CL as well as from P5 onwards. Kids are not push into foundation class unnecessarily as principal believe in giving these kids a chance. So yes, I really love MBS. Never love it as much when I was studying there. In fact, I told myself I won't put my kids in MBS unless I am doing well in life as during my era, the school was mainly filled with kids from \"good\" family background. But today, it's more balanced.

        Hi MMM,

        Yap. No fun at all.
        Lucky all is over...

------> Most important I feel life outside the school...of course, no perfect and there is no way we will be always so lucky to get good responsible teacher too. Only pray for it and of course, it will be good experience for the kid to learn the other side of the world- not everything is perfect...

I saw one article on one parents who provide everything and plan out everything for the son (only son)...pity, a little setback, cause him to end his life! The parents, soon realize it and was reported in the magazine and hope ppl learn from their mistake!

----->Yes. This is what I like too. I can't wait for my kids to be out there without me! I was so happy to see my son's preschool outing too!

CCA (BAND) fm the thread here, is the most popular CCA for MBS. What are the requirement? Do they learn Music note? Do you or anyone out there know what CCA offer for P1? Beside Band and Wushu.

-----> yes yes. I read and very relieve to see that. :rahrah:

So, you have only 2 kids in MBS? one is P4, another one?

Yes they learn music notes and master their instrument. Not sure if it is the most popular but I think it is a popular CCA as MBS band is indeed impressive and one of the top among primary schools. Besides wushu, they have chinese orchestra, dance, choir, badminton, basketball, robotics, etc... actually I think MBS has quite a lot of CCA for kids to choose from. I saw that in my niece's school, CCA choice was limited so she does not have any. It's just that from my personal perspective, CCA is a potential DSA area (direct admission to Secondary school) before PSLE Results are out. So I prefer kids to stick to a good CCA throughout. Pros and cons.

          It is a secondary school.

          I actually have 3. P1, P4 and P5.

It is written on the term table that the P3s are having cultural camp during the Sept holidays. Can any parent here share what is it about? Is it a full 2 days camp? mtia.

Every year the school will organise different holiday camps (based on different themes) for different levels of students. Usually they are not full-day camps (but half day ones eg. 9am to 1pm for 2days or 3days). As the name suggests for the p3 camp, the kids should be learning about chinese culture I guess.

I believe details will be made known soon, probably after the CA2 next week cos usually parents need to sign consent form etc.

                        Hi all,

I’m new here. I am a former MBS student, and would like to join the alumni. Would appreciate if anyone can advise the procedure and fee to join. Thank you.
