My son is able to get into MBS. looking forward to visit the school again.

Btw i saw my friends FB that first day of school we can follow them to the school, wonder is it the same practice in MBS also?

      :congrats:

Yes.this yr allowed for first 2 weeks if you are in PSG. You can choose to go on the day you are free and just inform that you are available to help up.

Can register during orientation day. They will tell you more ...I saw other parents standing near the canteen for the 1st week. Not allowed to go in...of course do not expect to be assign to yr child's class.;)...

Parents, do remember to get ready passport photo of yr child (in MBS uniform) to give to teacher during Orientation Day. 😉

      Cheers !

Shld be standard every year ...

16 & 17 oct for filing form - all admin work, buy books, giro, school bus and uniform, do name tag..Etc....these date you will be able to know which class yr child will be in and colour house.

Orientation shld be 27 Dec ...during orientation, child will be with his/her respective class form teachers (EL & CL) and they will tour the school with their own class...

The date shld be same (unless fall on weekend,I think) for yearly base on past experience and threads here... 😉

Last yr, mine is on 17oct...phase 2C.

The teachers are really up to my expectation....appreciated their efforts. My son enjoys MBS very much....

Cheers & welcome to the big family!

    • RE: How to tell if a child is gifted?

      Hi all mummies,

I know my son is perfectly normal but of course he might hv some issue in normal learning environment. In which the "focus" issue.

I know he is different fm other kids since bb time…

I do hv my worry too…

He is a sensible boy…but kind of worry does he hv hidden learning difficult as we called it as short attention span. Was thinking shld I get him tested and get some advise from professional…or leave it as it is since he hv no issue finish up test then…

He perfects normal as he can socialise with adult more than kids…which I do believe too. As he is also a gentleman, he actually can mix with kid who they hv same topics such as games etc…

In educator point of view, will be difference …

He actually cannot stop moving…he can sit on the chair without disturbing others in class as he will self play or do his stuffs more than looking at teacher when they teach…

and of course now i find he started to brush off to say he don’t know how to do…when I actually tested or trying to teach him at home myself…it is because I shld accelerate his learning yet did not…?

Beside on my own, I was thinking shld I get external advise and help…

For iq test, well, on to test or not to test, after test, what’s next? Can it really able to help him on his attention focus?

Or the test I need to go is not IQ test? Anyone can advise which I believe those having smart kids’ mum all facing such issue…perhaps, can advise thru own experience…

I am those not kiasu type and think most mummies unlike me now? My son doesnt have any enrichment classes during weekends. No assessment books nor anything for him. Night time only help him with his homework, that's all. Before he go school, his own free time, can do whatever he wants/like.

Even if he's belong to the weaker kids, just attend remedial and he's happy about it? We just wanted him to enjoy his childhood. It's too stressful now...

me too. So far no enrichment class. ...:p but time is very limited for me too.

Glad that there is no exam for P1/2. 😛

      Less stressful.

I think it's possible to enjoy the 1st 2/3 years but it all voice down to one's expectations. Eg. do you want your dc to be in the best class from P3 onwards? Are you happy if your child is average but enjoying school?, etc...

Some kids are naturally bright and disciplined. But most are not and require parents' constant monitoring.... I recalled my 1st meeting with ds's (P5) P1 teacher. She asked if I was happy with his results. I said I was because he has improved from K2. Well he only scored 80+ while alot of his peers were doing 90+ or full marks 😉 So I think it really voice down to expectations.

80+ is consider very good to me. So far I hv no [number] expectation yet. 😉

With 2 kids in P5 and P6, I personally think laying a strong foundation is important. Your child need not be top in class (scoring full marks, etc..) but your child must have a strong foundation and understanding what he/ she has learnt in lower primary so that they do not have to address these gaps in P5 and P6. Eg. maths concept.

For me, so long as they enjoy school, positive development through exposure in school activities (eg. cca, etc...), does well to make it to a decent secondary school, that is good enough.[/quote]

yes. Enjoy schooling and building foundation 1st...slowly and steady 😛 we only able to guide ....cos at the end of the day, it is them who are going to be in the exam hall.

Happy healthy kid will be more happy in life for long term. They will find their way, their path.....:p

      Wolfgirl:

Thanks. Found the ask n learn. It is quite fun and my girl enjoys the activities.

Anyone feels the same like me? I'm a working mum and my child is in the afternoon session. After shower & dinner, I can only revise some work with my child from 8-9pm. Bedtime is about 9.30pm.

No time to even log in to asknlearn to let me child explore also. Everyday in the morning will just be learning the CL, Math & EL spelling and did a bit of the enrichment class homework. Then lunch time and goes to sch.

This is Singapore children's life? 😞

think I really take it too easy....;) ..find it very difficult to juggle with one primary school and kindergarten kid at the same time....so I hv to let the elder work independently ....:) let's enjoy the 1st two years of p1&2 1st, possible? :please: 😓
