Hi, so far they have SA1. We are not too sure about SA2 but I think should have. Personally, with the mini test at term 3, that is like SA requirements in terms of test scope....But on top of that, they also have class work assessment, show and tell for EL and CL, so I actually thought P1 requirements is much more than before (eg. my P5 era).
Hmmm..... Think really hv to look around for CL enrichment.
Yes, they actually have oral for SA2.
Omg, not too early for P1?
HYPY for most schools (not just MBS) is usually heavily focus in term 1 and 2. From term 2 and term 3 onwards, focus starts to be on chinese character.
Ic. My son preschool focus on Chinese character more...they hv started HYPY only this yr.
Their chinese tingxie is not just reproducing the words but really on application as it is in a mini test paper format.
Ic. Thats more interesting, application instead of just purely Tingxie.
For CL enrichment in east, my kids go to Molin at GRTH building (beside roxy square). Lot of TNS, KHS students go there.
Do Molin have different spec to choose? I haven't check out yet. I see some centre they hv a) creative writing . b) compre. C) oral etc etc.... Some mix some hv separated by diff area. Is Molin practise so?
MMM, may I check with u too. Fm threads, I saw your children go to Enopi math too. Do they do level test and must within the time in order to proceed to next level for BTM? -

In Molin, they are already exposing the P1 to oral exams so it appears to be manageable. I feel that it's more to test their oral ability. Actually, I thought oral is ok as compared to recitation and show and tell (EL and CL). For recitation, they are supposed to memorise some pages on CL textbook and reproduce infront of the class. Meanwhile for show and tell, the kids are supposed to choose a topic and present infront of the entire class. The peers and teacher will grade them. So we need to choose topic and train the kids on what to say. Not forgetting their intonation, loudness, etc...Recitation and S&T is individual effort.

That should be the way to learn CL so that kids are not confused with phonics or over reliance on HYPY. Molin usually conducts HYPY intensive clas around October.

For lower primary, there is only 1 class. This is 2 hourly and it will cover everything. For upper primary, there is option of additional compo and compre class.

Yes for Enopi they do that. My kids actually stop enopi and is currently with Noein minds.
For me, despite preparing my P1 for P1.... there are different set of challenges which I observed through recent CA2. Eg. not reading instructions, not reading problem sums in full, not reading passage carefully and jump to conclusion and just picking numbers. Never check the work after completion. So these are the behaviours in her that is hindering her from doing well and what I am trying to change now. If she developed the good habits, it will follow up throughout her life.?] -
Recitation and S&T weekly requirements?
Peer grade them? won't be bias If kid can't mix with Some? will cost the kids' marks?
curious on it then.....
Molin - Sound great to cover everything.....;) will look into it since u mentioned TNS & MBS student went there. Sure to hv some merits. :imcool:

Test by able to do the question is ok. They even take time into consideration to level up. My son loves their CTM, wanted to go as per his requests. But he might hv problem level up in BTM due to the set timing...
I am looking into Math Hub and saw yr Noein minds on web...cater to different learning approach which might be able to meet my son's issue/interests. Thanks for yr info on Noein Minds. How long u hv been with them ? They are quite new as setup in feb 2012. How u find the teacher there? How's their setting and they teach In group?
You hv any comment on math hub?

I find the effect of repeat worksheets in Enopi will hv such impact for my son. He presumed same and as he do it before thus jump to do without reading the question too.
My son hv certain behaviour to correct too. Hope gradually he will be able to understand why test/exam need to finish on the set time.
Btw, MBS website up but nothing change???.....wonder why it is so....;) -
Hi, is/are any current P3 parents planning to send their child(ren) to Science enrichment class at Changi Rd (near AIA Changi) next year? The teacher (ex-MOE teacher) is willing to start a class with an initial 2 students, and will follow Maha Bodhi’s science sequence (eg if Maha Bodhi does Cycles in P4 term 1, she will teach that topic during term 1). If we can form a group of 2 by Oct, she will reserve the time slot for us. Please pm me if you are keen.
Yeah, these 2 days are usually for the parents to do the paperwork like completing the edusave form, the giro form, make payment for the 1st 3 days of catered food for recess etc etc Textbooks and uniforms will also be sold on these 2 days. So if u wish to buy uniform for your child, it is best to bring your child along. Otherwise, I think the vendor will also come during sch holidays (certain days). Orientation is usually a few days before school reopens. On orientation day, parents hand over child to the class teacher and then proceed to the hall for a talk. Children are brought to their classroom to get to know their teacher's n friends. -
The P1 Orientation Day is set on the 27 Dec 2012, Thursday (for 2013 P1 Pupils).
