Hahaha .. Ya true .. Think they walk blindly to the hall .. Usually follow the one in front so if the one in front goes to the wrong place then the whole group will be lost together .. Haha ..My girl confirms that all kids, once they alight, just walk 'blindly' to the hall... which is a good thing.
I think when they are more familiar, more friends and more 'guts', then they will start to loiter around the school, look at fishes in the pond and buy things from the canteen.
I think during Orientation, they were also told they can go to the Library (cos my girl complains)..\"very troublesome, must take off shoes\".
Once they enter the school gate, it should be quite safe. They can't get out... wherever they walk in the school, I am sure teachers will send them to the Hall at 1220. -

Thanks. The information is very useful to me.Hi,
I just called up the school regarding the subjects and PE attire issue.
EL - English
CL- Chinese
CME - Moral education
MA - Mathematics
FTGP - is teacher bonding with the students session - no books for this
HDP - something to do with holistic session - no books for this
ELS- English Speaking - no books for this
AES - something like activities - singing, dancing, Art etc, they will inform the students in earlier, what they will have for AES
And, i checked with them, if your child have PE lesson, they can wear PE attire to school for the whole day.
My daughter is from class 1E and having her PE lesson at 1.50pm today. The staff said that students can wear PE attire throughout 12.20pm to 6.20pm. Do not need to wear school uniform. Unless, your child sweats alot....
Hope my post can help :rahrah: -

Based on my last year's impression, bus uncles/ aunties will actually put sticker on their name tag to indicate which bus the child belongs to. This helps teacher to differentiate between child taking/ not taking school bus.My girl took school bus lat thu and fri to sch. She says she walks to the hall on her own.
I spoke to the bus uncle, after a few days? The kids will know where to go to locate their own bus, but guess the FT will still bring them to the sheltered area to look for their school bus.
Maybe you should drop an email to the FT explaining it is your girl's first time taking school bus, ask him to lead your girl to the bus.
My girl also has a sticker on her name tag showing the bus number. Maybe you can put a sticker also...
I volunteered last year for a couple of days (post 1st days) and kids will get used to it after a week. They adapt fast so don't worry. One observation was also teacher will ask the child to bring the art folio, apron, art stuff and some of those books/ stuff to be kept in school so the kids do not need to bring every week. Dd's FT related to me that the VP was on the lookout for kids' bags too. Make sure they are not too heavy and do not pack the unnecessary etc...
As usual, Miss Lim (P1 level manager) is there to manage the situation. She is very very experienced and very nice too. Looks/ sounds very fierce initially but actually a very nice teacher. My ds was taught by her when he was P1 and she still remembers his name though he is P5 now, etc.... -

Will try to answer some of the questions. I realised I am suffering from memory loss.... must be getting old....
Timetable is usually for the entire year. Sometimes there may be changes but usually not the norm.
CT = Contact time. I think it is the time teachers spent communicating with the kids on non-academic basis???? Any experienced parents here might want to share more.
CCA is usually available later on when the dust settles.
Wk 2 - supplementary/remedial lessons CMP/VE/CCA - FYI especially for upper primary students where they have supplementary classes. It's to indicate if those classes and CCA have resumed so the child must stay back. -

If you can afford the leave, maybe can check with PSG if it is still possible to volunteer. I recalled volunteering past the 1st days last year. The work involved standing beside the designated stall to help the kids eg. telling them the price, what is the amount and helping them along as they are not familiar with using coins yet. Also for those hot stuff, parents also help to keep a lookout to make sure kids don't scald themselves.Hello all!
So surprised to see the thread so active now. Takes the bus No. 1. Took time off for the first 3 days at school. Today he's supposed to buy food for himself but yet we cannot enter the school. So frustrating and so worried. Anyone else who's kid is taking the same bus or in the same class? My son is kinda like in his own world. He eats slow and is shy and everytime I ask how his day has been, he says 'I dunno?\"

anyone knows if any P3s last year went to GEP?
