    • RE: Nike Shoes

Went throught this forum and kind of conclude Nike have good and reliable school shoes.

Can I know where can I get Nike school shoes?

Are there any light with good cushion white school shoes available in the market? Willing to spend more for the shoes to be light and with good cushion as top priority.

      Aeomi:
Hi, just wondering if any of the other parents with kids in P1 have the same problem? With the introduction of the PALS programme, the P1 school hours have become really long, from 7.30am to 1.45pm most days. There is only a 30min break at 10.15 for recess.

My poor son has to wake up at 6am to be ready for the school bus at 6.30am. He eats slowly so has only a cup of Pediasure and a slice of bread or a scrambled egg at 6.15am. We pack sandwiches for him at recess but he is either but he is either busy playing or talking to friends and he takes only 1 - 2 bites! By the time he returns from school on the bus it's already 2.30pm. He only has lunch at about 3pm or so after dilly-dallying a bit. That's a good 9 hours between proper meals!!

Dinner has to be at 7.30pm latest so he can get to bed by 8.30pm to get enough hours of sleep.

For a 6 year old who is just adapting to P1 life I feel it's really tough. He has to learn how to wake up super early, gulp breakfast at an unearthly hour, learn to go to toilet and eat fast at recess and have a super late lunch, followed by dinner 4 hours later!

Working adults have a decent lunch hour and I'm sure no one expects to eat breakfast at 6.15am, then lunch at 3pm! I know there's been some feedback to the principal but what can the school do? MOE expects schools to function this way.

Sorry for this long post...just wanted to find out if there are other parents facing similar problems...

My son has already lost >2kg since starting P1 by the way.

We have to appeal to MOE for guidelines changes.

Yes, my son could recognize that they are from a certain primary one class. But it would not be right for me to name it here.

Another question is, according to the rules, the kids are supposed to be in the hall by 1220. What if the kids are still at the canteen taking their lunch etc? Will the teachers come and look for them? Or will they be considered late for school?
The kids having lunch because of after CCA right?
      Anyone can advise?

My son is in P1 now. Today he told me that in January, when he was playing with his friend before school in the parade square, about 4 boys from another P1 class approached them and fight. He said the boys kicked him and so he fought back to defend himself. Then today, one of those boys blocked his way while he was walking to the hall and wanted to fight but my son told him he is not going to the parade square and walked off.

After hearing this, I was so shocked. They are only at P1, why are there students approaching others to fight? I told my son, that he should not even stand there and let them kick and then fight back, he should just run away and tell teacher. But I am truly shocked that this can happen in school.

Anyone else heard of this kind of thing?
Are you sure those boys are from P1?

How does your child know the boys are from P1?
P1 boys are way too innocent to do such things.

But for this, we must highlight so that the teachers can keep track of these boys.

Yes, I fully agreed that pupils' recess time should not be shortened or banned as a mode of punishment.

My dd in Pri 1 now, told me that FT shortened their recess time juz becos a few other pupils in class did not behave. The entire class was punished by going to the canteen 10 minutes later. I will email to the level mgr to feedback to her about this. I hope if more parents speak up, the school may look into it.

Another issue is I notice that there is no soap dispenser at the canteen washing bay. Soap dispensers in the toilets are too high for my dd to reach too...she's rather petite. I have emailed to the Pri 1 level mgr about it and hope she looks into the matter. Aren't they encouraging good hygiene blah blah before and after eating? If there is no soap provided, how to wash the hands clean with just water?

Even the soap in the toilets, for those who can reach, feedback to me that the soap are very much diluted...hmmm...the school really must improve on these issues.
      Your kid from which class?

I don't agree with depriving kids of recess. They need a break and they definitely need food.

I worry that sometimes teachers's punishment do not fit the crime. You want to educate a child for being forgetful? Maybe ask her or him to record down 5-10 times so that next time he will remember. What has hunger to do with forgetfulness?
Eg littering-- punish by picking up litter (this will educate the child about social responsibility)
      I fully agree.
Rest and food are essentials which should not be a element of punishment.
It does not serve any good in preventing future repeats of errors.

Yesterday when I went to the school to fetch my daughter, I experience a lady holding a girl and dashed across the road. The girl is wearing spectacle and red traditional clothing. The security guard was shouting at them when they cross the road. Based on the feature of the lady, I suspect that she could be a maid. It was a raining day and I hear horn from the car. Frankly speaking, I would not cross the road without using the pedestrian cross during raining day as the driver's vision may not be so clear.

If your maid sends your children to school daily, you might want to cultivate the safety precaution to her. No harm walking a few more steps to take cross the road using a pedestrian crossing regardless of the weather.
I always enforce hokding children hands and no handphones when with my kids. If caught will confiscate her phone. Dveryone should implement this.

Oops the small container info was from my girl's FT.. They copied it into their journal.

Think my child did not have that in the journal or could be different class so was not told by her FT.

I will ask my girl to bring food that day. Worried with canteen queue with so many levels...

I think there is a letter from the school to bring non disposable chopsticks and small plate... Think they are going to Lao Yu sheng.
      Need to bring small plate?
Thought only indicated non disposable chopsticks?
Where is it indicated to bring small plate?

Will there be any canteen break that day?
