I thought I may confuse the parents here, my girl currently in P2, and recently just finished banding class in 2017, heard 3H in 2017 is best class, but usually 3I is the best class. Anybody know what’s the criteria for 2017 class banding? Based on English and Math, if these two are criteria, above how many marks for these two subjects, students can promote to class 3H?

What got me very confused was, for entire year, my child has always had the better grades (above average) compared to another classmate (borderline), but both going same class. Puzzling.

Will they be streamed again in Primary 3 going to P4? Or they are going to be in the same class from now? Thank you!

So happy to have members here to discuss together.

            for current 2016 P3 students -
when students from class 3I (Top class) are offered GEP :
they leave Maha Bodhi primary, go to one of the nine designated GEP centre(s).
vacancies are then created, inside class 3I.

            at end of P3 SA2 -
school sort out results for entire P3 cohort, class by class.

since vacancies been created inside class 3I, those Top 3 students from each of the remaining P3 classes, will then be transferred over into P4 I (Integrity).
This way, class I (Integrity) always maintain its position, as the Top class

the rest (who din transfer) -
remain inside the existing class, until end of P4 SA2, where 大\t风\t吹 due to another round of streaming again, entering P5.

Truly appreciate your detailed reply. Has made me understand the system better. Sure sounds very stressful and tough to me.

                Hi,

Does anyone know which is/are the best classes for Primary 5 next year?
My son is from 4I this year, he said majority of his class is going to 5I but the top 3 in level are going to 5H. How do they do the placement?
There is no 5J class and next year’s 5H and 5I will be having 40 students each. Does that mean there are classes with less than 35 students?
                Thanks.

                  .
                  Is your child P3 (born 2007), or P4 (born 2006), this year (2016) ?

During PTC (Parents Meet Tr conference), you may clarify with your child's Form Tr, or with Co-Form Tr :
at the end of P4 SA2, there is streaming into P5 classes.

To enter the Top class in P5 : what then, is roughly the overall combined (SA1 + SA2) results in % expected, at year end P4 exam results, for 3 subjects (Eng, Maths, Science) or for 4 subjects (including Higher Chinese) ?

The last cut-off Total, to enter the Top P5 class, after P4 streaming, will depend on :

                  - the strength of your child's entire P3 / P4 batch cohort, that year,

                  - & also, how easy or how difficult, were the four SA1 / SA2 papers been set, for your batch ?

If certain subject papers (say, Maths or Higher Chinese) had been set easy, then many students at the cohort level will tend to do well :
It means that the average mean score for that particular subject paper, will shoot up.

Many students tend to score Band 1 (85 and above). Then, overall, the combined (SA1 + SA2) papers % to enter Top P5 class, will be higher, also shoot up.

                  - during PTC, you may also find out from your individual subject Tr in your child's class : how many students scored Band 1, for each subject paper, out of Total, say, 40 students, in a P3 or P4 class.

you also need to know what is the apportionment for SA1, and SA2 ?
                  Is it
                  (30 % of SA1 + 70 % of SA2),

                  Or

                  (40 % of SA1 + 60 % of SA2),

                  Or

                  (50 % each of SA1 & SA2, combined),

at your child's cohort level, in case Maha Bodhi primary vary the %, for different level ?

If the apportioned ratio is (30% SA1 + 70% SA2) : means heavier emphasis, is placed at SA2.

If the ratio is 50%, each :
means both SA1 and SA2, are just as equally important.

To enter the Top P5 class at Maha Bodhi school, is very competitive -
because the existing current students in P4 Top class (i.e. class 4I (Integrity)), will try their very best to continue stay & remain inside class 5I at end of P4 streaming, don't want to come out, while the Top students from rest of the level cohort from other remaining P4 classes, will also study hard, \"Fight\" to enter the Top P5 class.

                  at Maha Bodhi primary -
if the Total overall %, at end of P4 streaming is based solely on 3 subjects, instead of 4 (ie. exclude Chinese) :
perhaps easier streaming, because if include Chinese, then those Top students amongst the cohort level, who happen to be weak in Chinese, but strong in the other 3 subjects (Eng, Maths, Science), may not be able to be streamed into the Top P5 class, since being weak in Chinese can pull down the student's overall Total %.

My boy had joined the MBSC since term 3 of P1 and he will be P3 next year. Although I agreed that it is not as organized as Bao Ta (i just heard and everyday passed by as my younger girl is just studying at the childcare centre next to them), but the teachers are not so bad. We have whatsapp group and we can direct text them for any queries about our kids. Quite responsive, my boy don’t take vegetables and it is also our most concern factor initially, but all turns out well. There are study time and we have to purchase assessment books for the kids too. Just to share what is happening at this MBSC. My daughter will be P1 and will be joining his brother too. Most probably i think she will be 1I, see you ladies at orientation tomorrow. By the way, is it 8am?

                      Anyone can confirm?

Should you have any question about the student care, feel free to PM me.
