Hello All,
Term 1 School Holidays coming to an end very soonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn......
- counting down 2 days left.
For me, guess Term 2 will be busier and tougher cos DD1 has to prepare for SA1 main papers and on top of that, believe she still has the Listening Compre/Oral, Compo papers to \"conquer\" Let's pray and hope she can manage through
I like to discuss another issue with you all here and seek your opinions -
DD1 or myself will log in to CPS web page whenever we are at the p.c. We realise that it has never been updated and that the informations are very outdated
I find that this is not serving as a very publicity image esp parents who would like to find out more about this school info will find them redundant :? Personally, I am not not well-versed with IT; can actually label me as an \"IT Idiot\" :cheeky: But sincerely, I would be very much want to get more infor from the school web page as much as possible so that also eliminate the possibilities that I miss reading any of the letters that DD1 brought home.
I am thinking whether should I raise this point up during the PTM next Saturday? (Provided I have the opportunity and chance to say so
). Or which department or who should I approach regarding this matter? Just a little bit off track - I had written in to the \"Admin Manager\" 2 years ago regarding DD1's school bus services issues and she took 2 weeks later to reply me - just to direct me to Alan Bus Services which I had failed to get a satisfactory answer. Anyway, this is a past issue - so let it be bah  -

or else the achievements pg.
however i realise this problem is quite prevalent amongst many pri schs
yup, shd bring it up cos it's sth like a 1st impression..
however, in sec sch n JCs, the sch has corporate comm made up of trs and full time admin staff, so websites, media releases are all v up to date. and at where i used to work, the trs selected for corporate comm are all the English/ multi-language \"powerful\" people, who are super diplomatic and also look v good, well groomed, plus IT savvy.
they are like the front, like the face of the school, so must portray v good image... hahaha -

Pardon me but if I don't remember wrongly, in year 2009 when DD1 in P1, the staff list and form teachers page are only updated somewhere in March 2009! For year 2010, also quite late but can't remember the exact dates.

For Year 2011, yes, they updated on 29 Dec 2010 before the school re-opens. But....last day of Term 1, there is already a change in most of the classes FT and they have not updated yet! And the page allocated for the Principal is still \"Under Construction\"
I don't know am I being too \"prejudice\" or \"paranoid\" over the above issues - maybe some parents might pass on this comment,\" Aiyoh, small matter - why you bother so much?\"
Well, maybe I am but I guess it is good if we can obtain most of the info from the school website since internet is so widely use and easily accessible nowadays

Is anyone else going to the Parent Volunteer meetup on Monday?

ExpatMom:
Is anyone else going to the Parent Volunteer meetup on Monday?
no? i didn't hear about this?
was there a letter or did you sign up during orientation or something?
i think i didn't hand in the Parent Support Group form during ds1's orientation even though i filled it up, so technically I'm still not a PSG member or Parent Volunteer.
but we did offer our services to the school via emails through the teachers. and we do go on field trips to help out.
I hope to join formally when dd is older and I can be more active and \"useful\" to others. haha.
Please update us over here after the meet up ok? See what else we can do to help.. Or at least for me, what I can prepare myself for in the meantime. -

Hi All,
This is the Calendar of Events for Term Two - picture not very clear as DD takes it with the HP and MMS to me and I upload here to share with you all
:D.
DD says it is attached together with the P's letter comprising of 7 pages . Guess I will read it later when I am home.
Looking at the calendar - my DD will be very busy & stressful this Term as her EL & MT SA1 Oral starts in Week 4, follows by EL &MT SA1 Listening Compre in Week 6 and all subjects SA1 papers in Week 8
Guess mummy here has more to do and prepare her for the exams but am looking forward for this coming Saturday Parent-Teacher Meeting too  -

They had a signup sheet at orientation for it, so I got a phone call about it. It's Monday morning (28/3) from 8-10am (I'm going to be a bit late). It's a couple of rooms down from where they sold the uniforms. If you intended to volunteer, I'm guessing they probably will not mind if you show up. Hm... unless it's specific to P1... well you could call the school and check.ExpatMom:

LKVM:
Hi LKVM,
Wow the sheet looks pretty busy schedule
No worries! DD briefly told me the content of the P's letter and it mentions the following:-
P1 - there will be no formal Assessment in Terms 1 and 2; only formal bite-sized form of Assessment will be conducted in Term 3 and 4 :rahrah:
The school has introduced the use of \"bite-sized\" forms of assessment to help build pupils' confidence and desire to learn. It has also placed less importance on Semestral Examinations in Primary 1 so as to smoothen pupils' transition from pre-school to primary school.
I type the above based on DD narrates the content to me over the phone so I hope I am not missing any important information

Expat Mom,
Tough for me to attend the briefing with the baby. I think I'll continue to volunteer adhoc first. Will sign up formally when dd goes to nursery.
Would love to hear from you what they have for parents to do though.
Champion, thanks for the info. I haven't received anything. Seems like I might get it the latest, again. I did check ds file this time, but no letter yet.
I like a busy schedule! It means the kids have a lot of stuff to engage in!
ds is starting his swimming this term too. Hope it doesn't rain so much and affect the lessons!
