      [quote="RRMummyHow’s your DD doing?[/quote]

      Thanks.

Plenty of homework during the long weekend.

I think parents may feel stressed in p2 due to the sorting of classes in p3 based on results.

Geez.. I hope my gal will be able to cope well.. getting her to do homework now can sometimes be such a struggle.. 😞

ohh.. P3 sorting classes.. what is the criteria for sorting? based it on results like all the #1 go 1st class etc? :faint:

Please elaborate. when you mentioned P1 papers are you referring to the exam papers from other schools? >80 before they enter P1.. oh dear.. I better speed up on the topics that I'm exposing her too..

Someone with a child in P2 there told me very stressful... Is it really more stressful in P1 and P2? In what sense, very high expectation? Lots of homework?

          Thanks again..

Yes, those papers where you can purchase outside or download.
By now you K2 kiddo should know + and -. Simple multiplication up to 5.
Able to count coins and know what is hrs and minutes hand.

He/She should know chinese characters (at least able to read and understand first, writing will come later)

P2? The major differences are the need to write compositions for English and Chinese. Tough...

                Chinese std-
Is your kiddo speaking it fluently at home or he/she is those eat potato type?
Anyway, at P1, they will test and then segregate the kids based on Chinese competency level. So you will know it too.
No worries, if kena the normal class but work harder, can 'upgrade'.

                P1 no compo yet.
There is journal. But not counted as SA1/2 result.
P2 SA1 as compo for Chinese....accounted for 10 marks of the paper.

Journal = Writing on everyday thing like a diary? How long a mini compo is expected?

My gals eat potato kind. We don't speak it at hm... 😞

So the whole segregation of their classes is based on Chinese competency :scared: Is the test for segregation is during orientation? Oral test?

I had no idea the emphasis on Chinese was high... :?:

You still have 4 mths before Jan'11.
Start speaking Chinese at home. No joke...serious.

Segregation is only during Chinese lesson. P1 parents will be briefed during orientation.
Yes, tests will be conducted to facilitate this segregation.
There are only 3 subjects during P1-2, 4 subjects for P4-6.
Consider the marks weightage, how can Chinese not be important?

5 subjects for p5-6 if you take higher chinese.

BTW, today, the whole cohort of p4-6 went to cheer for the torch relay. Quite an experience! :stupid:
